The shadow right away noticed the change in Megumi's mood. "Why it causes you so much sorrow knowing the inevitable fate that awaits the Blue Butterfly?"

Megumi did not have an answer for that question. "I even wonder that myself," he honestly replied. "I'm aware that I have just met him not too long ago, but for some reason I care about him."

The shadow hummed with interest. "In the eyes of someone else, you would be a strange kid since not much humans care about someone they barely knew. But not in my eyes," he fluttered around Megumi. "I have always liked people like you, since it made me remember how I used to be when I lived as a human."

Megumi wasn't sure why the shadow was telling him this, nor what he truly wanted. Because of that, he did not know what to say.

The shadow wasn't bothered by the silence, continuing on speaking. "If you are willing to help the Blue Butterfly, then I can help you find that important person."

Those words were like music to Megumi's ears. "I could not possible stay with crossed arms after knowing the fate that awaits the Blue Butterfly."

The shadow smiled, fluttering around him again. "Then, we have a deal!"

Megumi nodded, relieved that he has someone by his side willing to help him save Toge. "If you're planning to help me, then you must know a way out of this forest, right?"

The smile fell from the shadow's face. "Leave this forest? I can't leave this forest, I'm a guardian," he sadly said. "I was given the task of protecting the door that leads to the Butterfly's Realm. For that reason, I'm bounded to this place. I don't know what would happen to me if I dare to leave."

"There's no need for you to leave the forest. But if you know a way out, could you guide me there?" Megumi insisted, wanting to leave the shadows' forest as soon as possible.

The shadow's gaze dropped to the ground, sadness still present in his voice. "I'm afraid that I don't know. The only ones who knows where the exit is and can leave the forest are the butterflies."

By the mention of 'butterflies', Satoru came to Megumi's mind. "Then, do you know where the White Butterfly could be?"

The shadow looked at Megumi, "I do. He was the one who told me to meet up with the child of the unseen. Do you wish to see him?"

"Yes," Megumi replied, really wishing to see Satoru again. "He's the only one who can help me save Toge. And I believe that he was the one who saved me from Sukuna the moment I took his hand, since I heard his voice before I arrived at this forest. That's why I want to see him.

"You took Sukuna's hand?" The shadow's eyes widened with surprise, not understanding how the child of the unseen was so foolish to take the Red Butterfly's hand. "Being the prey of someone so dangerous, how could you let yourself be caught so easy... Everything will end for you now. There would not be salvation for the Blue Butterfly either," he panicked, worrying that this would be the end of Megumi and Suguru.

Megumi wasn't expecting this kind of reaction from the shadow. Was he overreacting? Or because he knows about the consequences of taking Sukuna's hand?

Of course he knows about the consequences! Since just like every child in this forest, he was one of the victims of the Red Butterfly. A child who's life was consumed. He knows better than anyone what happens next after being capture by that curse.

That's why wanting to know what will happen to him, Megumi asked. "Those that mean that my fate is already sealed? I'm going to die by the hands of the Red Butterfly?"

Having shared that terrible fate, the shadow felt sympathy towards the child of the unseen. "I'm afraid, that's the case. Once you are captured by Sukuna, no matter if you managed to escape after that, you won't be able to change that tragic fate. Once black marks appears on your face and body, your time would have run out. Once that happens, you will be trapped inside his distortion, where he will consume your life and soul," he explained, staring at Megumi's frightened eyes. "Did not at least someone tell you to never let the Red Butterfly catch you?"
