For Megumi's Sake

Yuji stared at Megumi with confused eyes. "Why do you want to know about that old lady? There's nothing you can do to save her at this point. You should concentrate in saving your friend, instead of worrying of someone who already passed away."

"I fear that it could be my grandma," Megumi answered, causing for the shadow to regret what he had said. "Before I took the decision of taking the hand of the Red Butterfly, I ran away from him together with my grandma, and Toge stayed behind. We ended up arriving close to the entrance of the forest. Wanting to save my friend, I left my grandma by her own, returning back. If she did not manage to leave before the Blue Butterfly arrived, then she could really have been his..." He trailed off, unable to finish his sentence.

"So that's why you think that old lady could be your grandma..." Yuji whispered, not wanting to speak any further about the victim. What Suguru did against that human was so cruel, that he doesn't want to remember it. Actually, he's not even sure if he could really describe the way she was dressed or her looks for the child of the unseen to know if it was his grandmother or not. Probably it wasn't even a good idea.

If that woman really ended up being his grandmother, what will happen? The shadow wasn't sure, but the possibilities of Megumi falling into a deep sorrow were high. That could lead him to make a bad decision, like giving up in saving his friend or even worst: giving up on his life. If the latter ended up happening, the Red Butterfly would surely not miss that opportunity to devour his life and soul.

That's something they should avoid at all cost!

Just like Yuji, Satoru thinks that it is a bad idea to continue speaking about the possible identity of the old lady and even about Suguru. But no matter how fate plays it's cards, he would not allow Sukuna to win.

Not wanting for things to complicate, he materialized a small butterfly, commanding it to give a message to Yuji. The butterfly obeyed, flying towards the child ghost and perching on his shoulder.

A whisper that sounded just like Satoru's voice filled the shadow's ear. "There's a possibility that--that old lady could be his grandmother. So, for Megumi's sake, you must not speak further, Yuji."

The shadow never had the intention of speaking more about the victim Suguru killed even if the White Butterfly had not mentioned it to him about it. So it wasn't going to be hard for him to keep his mouth shut or to even lie.

The butterfly vanished the moment the last words were delivered, as well as the butterfly in Yuji's palm. Being reunited with the two of them, he did not need the help of Satoru's butterfly anymore.

Megumi was still waiting for the shadow to say something, speaking once again when he did not receive a response. "I know that it could be hard for you to remember the cruel thing the Blue Butterfly did against that human and perhaps you don't want to speak about it, but I need to know if that old lady was my grandma. So could you tell me at least some of her features or the way she was dressed?" He insisted, really wanting to know if Suguru had taken the life of his grandmother.

However, Yuji did not respond. Actually, he didn't know exactly what to say. It was the best to lie or just think about an excuse? He racked his brain for an answer that could stop the child of the unseen from asking, but nothing came to him. His mind was completely blank. It seemed that it wasn't easy to stay in silence or lie like he thought a few moments ago. Thankfully, he's not alone.

Satoru let go of Megumi's hand, touching his shoulder to gain his attention, knowing exactly what to say. "I wasn't planning to tell you this, Megumi. But I think it's better for you to know."

Megumi did not look at the White Butterfly, but his attention was solely on him.

"In the shadows' forest time passes more slowly. You could be only a few hours in there, but in the Human Realm could have already passed a few days," Satoru explained. "That's why there's a high possibility that the moment Suguru appeared at the entrance of the forest, your grandma could have already left days ago."
