Satoru held out his hand for Megumi to take it, fully prepared to give the eternal slumber Suguru wishes for. None of the two wanted for the Blue Butterfly to die, but there wasn't any other way to save him from the clutches of the unseen beast.
Megumi did not hesitate anymore, taking the hand of the White Butterfly. "There is one last thing I wanted to tell you before you face your demise, Blue Butterfly."
"And what could that be?" Suguru asked, not having the slightest idea what his brother wanted to tell him.
"Although I will never be able to forgive you for the cruel things you have done, I understand why you took such course of actions. That's why I hope you are forgiven by your sins in order for you to be able to enter the circle of rebirth and be reborn in this world again. And I hope that in that new life, you will be able to live a normal, peaceful life."
Suguru smiled bitterly. "It would have been better if you just hated me, Megumi. Knowing that you understand my course of actions and that you want me to be reborn when I don't even deserve it, it only makes me feel more miserable. It would not be a surprise if I'm punished once I die, being burned in thousands of flames."
Megumi could not really say for sure if he hated his brother or not. Perhaps if Suguru would have killed Tsumiki could have been a different story, but that did not happen. So deep inside his heart, he only wants the best for him. Even if that meant in another life.
The less Megumi wants is for his older brother to suffer. And he is not the only one, Satoru wishes the same. Having someone you care so deeply about, it is something that it can't be helped.
"You are not the one to chose if you deserve to be reborn or not," Satoru mentioned, wanting for his friend to stop saying such things.
Sukuna is dead and soon the unseen beast will perish, so there was nothing Suguru needed to worry or even blame himself if he is reborn as a child of the unseen again in his next life. Plus, it was useless to continue to feel guilty about the cruel things he did to Megumi and Toji, nothing is going to change anyway.
"Perhaps you are right, Satoru. Still, the guilt for what I did will never stop haunting me. So once again, I will repeat this: I'm sorry. I'm sorry for taking a wrong path, instead of seeking salvation," the Blue Butterfly shortened the distance between them, saying his final words. "If I'm really reborn in this world again, no matter if I'm born as a human, as child of the unseen, or even as another kind of life; I hope that I can meet both of you, since at the very end I realized how much both of you mean to me. Especially you, my dear brother. I can say for sure that I love you," he took Megumi's free hand, and put it on his chest. "But it's time for me to say goodbye."
A golden light emitted from Megumi's hand, his golden butterflies glowing at the same time with a similar color. Their master wasn't the one who gave them the order, they took the decision by their own free will after hearing the Blue Butterfly's final words.
The white butterflies glowed as well, trying to help their master and Megumi purify the darkness within Suguru. Although Satoru does not have the same power the Golden Butterfly posses, he was able to give some of his strength to him to resist way longer.
Immediately a few golden butterflies died, falling to the ground just to vanish a few seconds later. Blood made its way out from Megumi's nose, and fatigue started to take over his body. However, that did not stop him from continuing, trusting he had the strength necessary to resist the darkness of the unseen beast. Furthermore, Satoru never let go of his hand, giving him even more confidence on winning.
Trying to not simple disappear by the hands of a kid and refusing to give up in taking the Blue Butterfly's mind and body, the beast tried to fight back. A few of the blue butterflies began to change to a black color, while the darkness within collided with the golden light. But none of this was enough to extinguish the light of hope, losing the battle at the end.
