Having captured the child of the unseen for the second time, it was time for Sukuna to steal something from him. And it wasn't something he needed to think much of it, since he already knew what he wanted time ago: the left eye of Megumi. With this, he would be one step closer to recuperating everything he lost before he was turned into a grotesque creature.

In order to make him suffer even more for his sin and to protect the children of the unseen, the Black Butterfly cut the throat of the Red Butterfly as well as all of his eyes. This was one of the reasons why he struggled so much to find his way the moment he was exiled from the Butterfly's Realm and thrown to the Human Realm, taking a lot of time to find his first victims.

Being turn into a curse, his red butterflies immediately vanished. He was only able to materialized them again once he consumed for the first time the life and soul of one of the child of the unseen.

The butterflies end up being his guide, taking less time to find the next child.  Since he still couldn't speak nor had his eyes healed after devouring the first one, he stole the kid's crimson eye before consuming his life and soul. Sadly, Megumi will share the same fate!

"It seems that every offspring between a human and a child of the unseen is born with mismatched eyes," Sukuna mentioned, remembering that the two children he consumed long time ago had mismatched eyes like Megumi. "If it wasn't for that, no one would had thought that you are half human. After all, just like Blue Butterfly and I, the humans can't see you. You are actually the first one like that, since the other two children were more human."

The Red Butterfly wasn't lying. Megumi was the first offspring the Black Butterfly had with a human that couldn't be seen by most people, being that the reason of why the Blue Butterfly was sent to protect him only a few days after he was born. Compared to the other two children, Megumi was really important to the Black Butterfly. He even was the one that had chosen the name for him.

And since Megumi is the last life the Red Butterfly needs to consume to regain his true form back, he needed to be safe at all cost. With the Blue and White Butterfly by his side, there was nothing to be afraid of. Both of them had the strength necessary to keep Sukuna at bay and even kill him, assuring the kid's safety until they arrived at the Butterfly's Realm. But who would thought that Suguru would betray his father and ruin everything!

Megumi listened carefully to Sukuna's words, yet he didn't have anything to say to him. Well, even if he wanted to or had something to say, it was impossible. The fear had taken over him the moment Satoru was taken away by the red butterflies, paralyzing him on the spot.

Sukuna didn't mind, not waiting any second more to steal the kid's crimson eye. His fingers first caressed Megumi's eyelid, then without any warning he started digging inside of it.

A excruciating pain instantly filled Megumi, low cries of grimace escaping from his lips. Blood trickled down his cheek, staining a bit of his black haori. He wanted for the pain to stop, but he couldn't do anything about it, nor the Red Butterfly was planning to halt in his actions, at least not until he haves the eye.

The white butterfly was alerted by the suffering of Megumi and the sudden laugh of Sukuna, leaving the haori where it had been hiding. It flew towards the Red Butterfly's face, shining brightly in a white light.

Sukuna felt his only eye sting by the light, taking his sight along with it, but only temporary. He let go of Megumi, his fingers painted in blood but empty. Because of the white butterfly, he had failed to steal the kid's eye.

"Run!" the white butterfly shouted, its voice sounding exactly like Satoru's.

This gave Megumi courage. The necessary courage to push Sukuna away and run away as fast as he could. The Red Butterfly stumbled a few steps back, but he didn't fall regaining his posture afterwards. One of his hands made their way to his eye, not surprised at all that Satoru was still getting in his way even when he wasn't present anymore.
