You locked eyes and he breathed out a hey, his face filled with emotion.
ʻʻHiʼʼ You hesitantly greeted,your fingers playing with the pendant on your necklace.
ʻʻY/n...how are you?ʼʼ He asked as he removed his glasses and took a step further. You bitterly chuckled ʻʻWe aren't gonna do this,Tomʼʼ You knew you said you weren't gonna start anything and the chances of that staying that way was only possible if you could avoid Tom and Liv right now. So you started to walk away but realized you needed to pass Tom to go up the staircase that led to the third level where the movie was screening at. Tom twiddled with the specs in his hands before placing it in his pocket.
You looked away from his gaze,at the carpeted floor not wanting to make eye contact with him anymore incase he saw how sad and tired you were. You didn't want him to see it still hurt even if he was standing a good distance away. A distance you had to cross in order to go upstairs.
You took a breath and then walked forward, brushing past him while he called your name but you kept walking by. You were far from Liv and now you only had Tom to escape so you turned the corner instead of climbing the stairs hoping he'd leave. Spotting a secluded alcove leading to a pathway you went in but Tom followed and he was by your side in a second. You felt his familiar touch on your skin when he caught your arm.
He was close now for the first time after the breakup so close that you could smell his expensive cologne and hear the guilt in his voice as he said your name. A pained expression on his face and brown eyes. Those same eyes that were once filled with love is now ridden with guilt and regret,you hated how it made your heart stir. A tear leaked out and he noticed it, so you hastily looked down to see Tom shuffle his feet before parting his lips to speak ʻʻI'm so sorry,loveʼʼ at his apology and him calling you love your head shot up, eyes now looking back at him.
