The ones who did quickly went into hiding when they saw the developing sphere of light above them.
Unable to focus on anything but her convulsing mother, Tiana crouched down and tightly wrapped her white glittery wings around Oona to restrict her movement and protect her from anything else that might come their way.
She began to sob uncontrollably as she watched the poison take over her mother's body.
Her once pallid, glistening skin began to vanish as her body gave way to the toxic liquid that rotted away her beautiful fairy physique, replacing it with a sticky black skeleton frame.

The deadly tar travelled up to her waist restricting her movement as she used her last ounces of energy to fight to regain freedom.
"Let her go!" Tiana screamed at the slimy liquid but it continued to take over its new host.
She tightened her hold on Oona, hoping to slow down the infection when something came hurling down from the sky, distracting her attention, and landed a few feet away with a thud.
It was Jasmine and she had been dispelled from the sphere as it no longer had a use for her.
Tiana looked over at her motionless friend's body then glanced back at her mother and took a deep breath.
"What do I do, mother?" She cried, anxiously looking from the princess and then back to her mother for help.
She bent down and lifted Oona's quivering head in her hands, touching her clammy brow in comfort.
"I love you" she muttered to her sobbing daughter as the poison drained the last of her energy and she flopped to one side.
"Mother?" Tiana screamed and shook Oona's unresponsive body.
"You can't leave me! I won't let you!" She screeched in agony.
Awash with grief, Tiana's only focus was on her lifeless mother's body in her arms as a vicious crackling sound echoed behind her.
She slowly removed from attention from Oona and turned around in horror.
As there, increasing in size, was the sphere swirling out of control, discharging rays of red light onto the forest ground.
The rays of light slithered and penetrated the ground, infecting it with the same toxic substance that was killing her mother.
A wave of rage swept through Tiana's inner core and she dropped her mother out of her wings.
She stood before the developing deadly ball of light and felt a sudden feeling of calm and determination rip through her body.
She looked at her previously quivering hands and saw them disappear under a burning bright white light.
"I can do this" she reassured herself and slowly wiped her tears.
With one final glance at her mother and the others, she held one hand towards Oona's lifeless body and one towards the vortex.

Tiana closed her eyes and took a deep breath,
"Take this pain and remove the chains. From my mother to another. Bring her back to life and remove all this strife" she shouted and summoned both the poison and vortex towards her.
The toxic liquid started to stab and snake around her mother's waist as it reluctantly began to slowly release itself from her Oona and shot straight into Tiana's hand with purpose.
The black tar entered through her fingertips and twisted up her arm as the frantic fairy tried to shake it off,
"Go back to where you came from!" She screamed and wafted her tainted arm towards the vortex.
The slithering black liquid snaked its way from her mother's still body and penetrated Tiana's skin like glue, ignoring her commands as it set up residence in its new host.
Her breathing became laboured as the poison quickly slithered round to her chest and she fell to her knees in agony.
"Go back-" she panted but it was rapidly consuming her energy and the vortex moved back over the white tunnel, draining Gump and Brown Tom beneath it.
A tear fell from Tiana's eye as she watched her friends be consumed by the sphere and she closed her eyes in defeat.
