"Don't give up, Tiana! You have done so well to get this far" a familiar voice sounded from in front of her.
It was Oona and she was smiling at her brave daughter.
Her deadly black skeleton frame began to dissolve, floating like black ash into the air, as the poison filtered over to her daughter, restoring her previous fairy form and power.
"Let's finish this, together," she said and helped her daughter off the ground.
She put her arm around her faint daughter's waist to steady her and Tiana managed a weak smile before raising her poison-infected quivering arm to the sphere with her mother raising her healed hand in the same direction.
"Repeat after me" Oona whispered as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
Tiana did the same and immediately felt a sudden surge of energy pierce the dull, draining tar that was stealing her life force.
"Return this evil back to sender. Never to return to this peaceful splendour. With no harm to the forest. Please heal those who are the poorest. Restore all back to their natural state. So they no longer rest in sedate" Oona shouted with resolve.
Her withering daughter managed to stutter the same spell as she used the last ounce of energy she had and threw her hand with vigour towards the sphere.
The poison flew from her arm and hit the middle of the sphere causing it to violently spiral and churn out of control.
"I think it's going to blow" Oona yelled and threw herself over her daughter, wrapping them both in her protective, glowing white wings as they took cover.
The sphere pulsated and thrashed red light in and out of the mist as the toxic tar returned to the fiercely spiralling ball before creating an enormous blast that rocked throughout the forest and beyond as it swirled around one last time and then evaporated into the sky.
An eerie stillness fell upon the space and Oona refused to look to see the results.
"Mother, you're smothering me" a little voice sounded from underneath her.
"Tiana! You're safe!" Oona cried as she squeezed her daughter tighter in relief.
"What about the others?" Tiana muffled under her mother's wings.
Oona stopped squeezing her daughter and cautiously turned around.
She slowly stood up as she released Tiana from her grasp and looked over at the two shrivelled bodies that remained in a trance.
"Gump? Brown Tom?" Tiana gasped and stepped toward their withered bodies in shock.
"Don't touch them!" Oona warned and pulled her daughter back to her.
A rustling distracted their attention as they looked down to see the princess stirring on the ground.
"No! Stop! It's killing me!" Jasmine screamed as she fought with the air.
"Princess, it's your aunt Oona. It's okay, your safe now" Oona replied softly and hugged the petrified princess.
"Aunt Oona?" The princess questioned, panting out of breath as she wildly observed her surroundings and tried to sit up.
Oona nodded at the frazzled princess and held her tighter for reassurance.
Jasmine happily accepted the embrace as she felt a warming tingle sweep through her body, relaxing her mind and muscles from the terror she had just endured.
"What happened to me?" She questioned the curious fairies.
Oona and Tiana looked at each other with concern, unsure how much to reveal to the already fraught princess.
