The trees swayed in a ghostly fashion as the tree spirits watched on in silent contemplation.
"How will we find the labyrinth?" Lili asked, rubbing her shoulders against the cool night's air.
Jack stopped and riffled around his neck to reveal a moonstone pendant hanging from a brown leather band.

He held the stone up to the full moon with a smile and waited with bated breath.
"What is that?" Lili continued.
"It's a Venato. It tracks where the labyrinth is since it changes its location every full moon. Gump gave it to me when I made him a leader but I've never used it before" Jack whispered, careful not to alert anyone to his precious gift.
Lili gave him a wary look as she glanced around the gloomy space, waiting for something to happen.
"So, where is it?" She asked impatiently, after only waiting a few seconds.
Jack chuckled at his restless wife before pausing and looking ahead with fascination.
"Can you see it?" He gasped.
Lili shook her head as she tried to see the same sight her husband was captivated by.
A thin silvery, almost translucent light beamed from the necklace and off into the distance,
"It's a trail. Let's go" Jack breathed, enthralled by the magical tracker around his neck.
Lili tried one last time to see the magical guide but gave up after a few seconds,
"I cannot see anything, my love, so I will follow you" she stated and tightly held her husband's hand as he navigated her through the winding trees and thick shrubbery to travel deeper into the forest.
The woods were eerily still with only a few sounds of flapping wings, from the birds above going home for the night, and scurrying in the distance from the land-bound creatures doing the same.
The beam began to get stronger and developed into a solid stream of silver light as they got closer to the illusive ritual site.
"Are we there yet?" Lili whispered as she nervously steered her way through thick bushes of thorns and sharp plants.
The prickly undergrowth nipped and tore at the queen's expensive dress but she didn't care as the fear had overtaken any thoughts outside of the task ahead.
Her transfixed husband slowed down and came to a sudden halt as he tapped the shining pendant with confusion.
"What is it, my love?" The queen asked with apprehension.
"I think we're here!" Jack quietly announced as the trail of light stopped abruptly and culminated in a dark area ahead.
Lili pulled her husband back and a look of foreboding swept across her face.
