Lili sat on her white and silvery blue damask sofa sipping the hot tea, the nervous maid had just brought to her, as she smiled at the discourteous red-haired woman with insincerity.

"So, this is where the queen greets all of her royal female visitors?" The observing woman questioned in a superior tone.
Her sharp nose elevated to the ceiling as she scrutinised her surroundings with indifference.
"Yes, this is one of two rooms we use but I like this one as I find it more intimate and welcoming" Lili tried.
"Intimate and welcoming? I like my guests to feel the opposite! On guard and uncomfortable is the way I like my meetings to go! It's all about power and dominance not friendly and charming" the visitor laughed with a steely glare.
Lili gave a wavering smile and shifted around in her seat as she wondered how much more of the insufferable queen she could take.
Luckily for Lili, she wouldn't have to wait for long as a tapping interrupted their frosty exchange and a guard opened the heavy-set doors,
"Presenting Princess Jasmine, your majesty" the stocky armoured man announced and stepped back.
Jasmine stood, rigidly, in the middle of the double doorway as she gave the room an impassive evaluation.
"Come in my love and meet the queen" Lili requested and gestured her vacant daughter to her side.
The princess walked over to her mother and sat beside her as a maid rushed to serve her some tea.
"Ah! So this is my future daughter-in-law. It's a pleasure to meet you" Queen Eleanor bellowed.
Her ice blue eyes scanned Jasmine's blank face as she continued,

"Don't you talk?"
Lili gave her daughter a pleading look,
"Yes, I do and it's a pleasure to meet you too" the princess replied dryly.
Jasmine slowly looked at her exasperated mother before turning back to the stern visitor for more questions.
The tension rose as the maids stood to one side, watching the strained meeting and only intervening when the beverages and finger foods needed replenishing.
