"We need to get out of here." I yelled over the transition to the next song. I stood on my toes to see through the crowd to the exit. Jungkook was the only one who heard me, Taehyung too drunk to focus on anything other than dancing behind me obliviously.
Jungkook didn't bother assessing the path out, grabbing my hand while I took Taehyung's at the last second and parting a way through with us following. Taehyung's footsteps were sloppy, crossing over each other and daring to make him fall. I let go of his hand to slip an arm around him as we descended the stairs, the air a little cooler in the nearly empty entryway.
"Crap, I forgot to get my cut for tonight." Jungkook realized just as we reached the exit. He turned toward the both of us, running an impatient hand over his hair. "I'll be five minutes." He dashed back in the direction we came.
Taehyung and I stood across from each other, leaning against opposite sides of the wall. I was seconds away from giving in to him again, self aware enough to know that the soothing feeling that warmed me wouldn't help me think clearly.
"I should get some air." I uttered, the atmosphere suddenly balmy and thick.
I cooed at the cool breeze outside, hitting my face as soon as I opened the door and putting a little distance between us with every step. The door closed behind me but clicked back open only a moment later, Taehyung's hands tucked in his pockets as he approached where I rested against the building in the same spot we stood at the start of the night.
"Seline, are you okay?" He asked, never shy about touch and putting his hand on my arm.
"Not really, I can't stop thinking about what happened in there." I crossed my arms to cover myself.
He trailed his fingers down my arm, tugging away the locked position I took on as a physical representation of my will to keep him out. I realized the calm was accompanied by something else entirely, every part of me relaxed physically and emotionally so that I felt completely naked in front of him. He was the epitome of vulnerability and openness.
"I can't either." He replied, using his other hand to brush the hair away from my face. "It doesn't have to be a bad thing, Seline." He leaned down, bridging the space between our lips again. He tasted like alcohol but felt like serenity.
We were unmindful of how much time passed, Jungkook's voice from the edge of the sidewalk catching my attention. I pulled away from Taehyung, turning my eyes to where Jungkook leaned onto the edge of a car parked just outside the building to speak with the driver.
Taehyung finally looked from my lips, pointing to where Jungkook held the backdoor of the car open.
His hand pressed into the small of my back, our footsteps in sync until he moved in front of me to scoot to the farthest side of the backseat. As soon as I slipped in beside him he snaked his arm around my waist, leaning forward to chat with Matteo, a sculptor and friend of Jungkook's.
The door closed when Jungkook slid in on my other side, mushing us back together and with his hand resting on my thigh so that his fingers curled toward the inside. We were both completely silent and I wondered what he was thinking about, glad that he couldn't read my mind to hear the incessant reminder that I shouldn't have a threesome with my roomates.
Taehyung was barely awake by the time we reached our apartment, Jungkook supporting him with an arm over his shoulders as we took the elevator. Taehyung was an ill mix of tired and intoxicated that made him speak out of turn, seemingly unaware that I was standing right next to him as he gushed to Jungkook about kissing me in so much detail that Jungkook put a hand over his mouth.
"Stop saying stuff you'll regret in the morning." Jungkook laughed, a blush creeping up my neck to my cheeks.
I unlocked the door while Jungkook nearly dragged Taehyung to the couch, his body thudding against the cushions with the drop. Jungkook busied himself with taking Taehyung's shoes off and gathering some of the things he might need after the night of drinking.
While he supplied him with a trash bin, water and a blanket I made my way to the bathroom for a quick shower. My mind reeled so rapidly that I ended up sitting in the tub, letting the water trickle down as I wondered how they would both feel about our night once morning came.
It was quiet when I moved from the bathroom into my bedroom, a towel secured around my chest and damp hair dripping to my shoulders. I pulled the biggest t-shirt I owned over my head, the deep blue material pleating at my sides and falling to my knees. I sighed when I finally crawled into bed, crossing my legs and pulling out my phone to send out a warning text to Faye that we would need to debrief.
I lowered my phone at the light tapping on my door. It creaked as Jungkook opened it, peeking in cautiously. "I'm decent." I giggled at his wide-eyed expression.
He stepped inside, setting the glass in his hand on my bedside table. "You forgot to get water."
"I'm not that drunk." I replied, thinking that the end of the night had been more sobering than anything.
"I know, but you always get water before bed." He smirked with knowing.
We locked eyes, mine just as wide as his had been upon his entrance with his observation. "You really think you know me." I teased.
"I do, just like I know you're freaking out right now." He raised his chin. When I didn't respond he leaned over me, pressing his hands onto the mattress at both of my sides as he kissed me again, gentler than he'd been when we were dancing.
We both looked down when he pulled away, our noses brushing against each other. "If you know me so well then you'd know doing that will only freak me out more." I said, shaking my head.
He chuckled. "That's true, but you're only freaking out because you're thinking about the worst case scenario. Think about the best one for a few minutes." He recommended, pecking my mouth one last time.
"The best case scenario would be everyone waking up and forgetting all of this tomorrow." I replied quickly, the pout of his lips making me giggle.
"But that's not what you want." He retorted, sitting back up.
I smacked my lips, tilting my head with his claim. "Well then tell me what I want since you think you know everything."
"You want me." He smirked.
"You're such a cocky butthole sometimes." I scoffed.
He laughed, stepping closer to the door. "And you look like a blueberry, but I'm not wrong so dream about the real best case scenario tonight and think about saying yes tomorrow."
"Saying yes?" I questioned, rolling my eyes in annoyance as he ignored me, clicking my door closed while I tried to override every thought to imagine my most desired outcome.
