chapter 22

i look over and notice doja cat and lizzo talking to eachother. i dropped my jaw because i've always wanted to meet them.

"well i don't wanna keep you hanging kai, i hope you enjoy the reward show!" the reporter says.

the camera cuts and i thank the reporter, then look behind me and see that billie is still taking pictures, i walk over to her and then she motions for me to join her.

i walk to her right side and slide my hand around her hip. she shudders a little bit. she then puts her hand on my back and rubs her thumb.

"guys over here!"

"billie! kai!"

she then moves a little bit closer to me and puts her hand on my chest, making my heart race. i don't think i've ever craved someone's touch so much in my life.

me and billie finish taking pictures, then finneas and claudia take over our spots.

"did i mention that you look really beautiful tonight?" i ask her, in her ear.

"mmmm, i don't think so actually" she says. getting close to me and leaning in, then stops.

i really wanna kiss her right now

"hey i'm gonna go over and talk to doja and lizzo" i say.

"okay, for sure. i'm gonna talk to this reporter real quick then i'll meet up with you" she says, giving me a wink.

i walk over to doja cat and lizzo and we instantly gave eachother hugs.

"bro i love your music, that shit is amazing" i told doja, i turned to lizzo, "and lizzo, i be singing my heart out to your songs all the time." i told her.

"bro i love you kai, i've literally been listening to ur album this past week and have been obsessed with it" doja says.

me and billie eventually meet up after talking to everyone and we all head into the arena. me, marissa, and kyle have a table that's right next to billie's table. me and billie sat in the chairs closest to eachother.

"kai, we haven't seen anything suspicious. everything seems to be alright right now" i hear cody say from my earpiece.

i instantly grabbed my phone from my pocket and turned down my brightness. i texted billie

billie:)

cody said we're still clear

good:)

i looked up from my phone and so did she, we both have eachother a smile.

"hi guys! welcome to the grammys!" trevor, the host, says into the microphone.

we all cheer and clap. i all of a sudden feel a hand on my back, and i turn around. it's olivia rodrigo.

"hi kai!" she says.

"oh my god, no fucking way." i say, in awe that i'm meeting her.

i gave her a hug and said, "i've been waiting to meet you to be honest"

"same. you're such a good singer and i'm literally in love with your album" she says, letting me go.

"i could say the same" i say.

"oh my god, olivia rodrigo?" i hear marissa say.

marissa gets up from her seat and gives her a hug.

"this is my sister, marissa. she's a huge fan of yours" i tell olivia.

"awww" she says, and hugs marissa back.

we talk for a little bit then sit down back in our seats. we get through halfway of the award show and i feel a hand running from my shoulder to a little bit above my chest, i look down and recognize billies hand.

"hey baby, i'm about to perform." she says, whispering in my ear. it got me shivering.

i look at her and our faces are about three inches apart. i don't think i've ever wanted to kiss someone so much in a moment like that.

"i always love watching you perform" i say, then look back towards the host, trying to calm down a little bit.

"i know you do" she says, getting closer and running her lips on the bottom of my ear, before she walks away.

so much for calming down

after 5 minutes, happier than ever starts to play, and i look up on a huge screen and see billie, starting to sing. she changed her outfit to a taylor hawkins shirt and black pants, she also has black eyeliner on, which looks SO damn good on her.

my jaw drops a little bit as i watch her throughout her performance, when it ended, it was by far one of the best perfomances that i've ever seen her done. it makes me want to watch it over and over again.

when billie walks back to her table, she's still wearing her same outfit.

"that was the best performance i've ever seen" i say to her.

"thank you, baby. i wish you could perform with me" she says, biting her lip.

"soon baby, soon" i say, and grab her hand for a second.

after about a minute, i feel my phone vibrate.

i look at it and see i got a text from billie.

cody said we're still clear

good:)

i need you.
i needa kiss you so bad.

i take in a deep breath, trying to ignore my insane butterflies right now. i turn around and look at her, and she's biting her finger and giving me a smirk.

this motherfu-

"i have a very special guest attending tonight guys" trevor says, interrupting my thoughts and stare. i turn around and notice that a camera and him are standing right next to me.

"this person is a new rising star. with only one album out right now, and it's the most popular album right now. ladies and gentleman, kai!" he says into the mic.

i hear everyone applaud and i smile and wave at everyone. i then hear a voice in my earpiece.

"Q is in the building, kai! he ran out with steve! he said something about an explosion!" cody yells.

my face instantly drops, and i look at billie, who notices my mood change.

i hear yelling from the exit door that i'm nearby, i stand up instantly.

"GET DOWN NO-" cody says, before all i heard and saw was a huge explosion.
