chapter 29

"excuse me?" i ask her, surprised.

there's no way she knows. i know for a fact it's not showing.

"you heard me" she said, maintaining eye contact. "tell your guys over at the bar to leave too"

i looked over at where kyle and cody are, and i see them look away when i looked at them. cody pulled out his phone and started calling someone.

"cmon kai, we can do this the easy way or the hard way" she said.

i reached inside my pocket and took out my wallet, setting down $40 to take care of the table, because who knows what's about to happen within the next five minutes.

"tell me what the fuck you're doing working with brandon." i told her, putting my wallet back in my pocket.

"you don't need to know that. i've been friends with his mom since high school." she said.

"what so that means you're apart of his revenge plan?" i ask her.

i felt marissa put her hand on my knee, indicating something to me but i'm too distracted to figure out what.

"yes" she said, quickly. "now take off your mic and get your guys out of here"

before i could reply, i hear my phone ring. i pull it out and realize that billie is calling me. she wants me out of there.

"we're done here. but i'm not finished with this conversation" i said. i got up and grabbed marissas hand as she got out of her seat.

i heard a chair screech on the floor, and glanced back as i was walking marissa to the door. my mom was fast walking towards us and telling us to come back to her.

cody immediately came into my view and grabbed her, pushing her away from me. kyle came up besides me and grabbed my shoulder, "we need to leave NOW. he has the place surrounded with paps"

i glanced out the window and realize there's paparazzis surrounding the glass, taking pictures of us.

i turn back towards my mom and walked towards her.

"kai, let's go!" kyle says, trying to grab my arm.

i pull my arm away and went up to my mom.

"hold on cody," i told cody, when she was holding my mom, i looked at her, "dad would be so disappointed in you. stay away from us and billies family, or so help me god"

kyle immediately pulled me away and when he was holding me, i grabbed marissa and we walked out of the door. i look back and cody let my mom go, running up behind us.

we immediately get asked multiple questions as to what just happened and flashes take over my sight. we push our way through the crowd, keeping my head down. i looked up and looked at the faces to see if i recognize anyone, because clearly he was probably here listening to our every word at the table.

i finally see his face, in the back of the crowd, wearing an all black hood. he smirks as we make eye contact.

"we need to hurry" i say to kyle.

we finally break out of the swarm and we run to the car as fast as we could, the paparazzis chase us. we get into the car and cody starts the car. they luckily stood on the side of the car instead of behind it so we don't run them over.

"god fucking damnit, he's here. LETS GO" i yelled, i just wanted to get to the house to make sure everyone was okay.

my mind was on so much stuff that i couldn't even handle the pressure right now. all i felt was hatred, betrayal, and revenge.

cody backed up as fast as he could, and he drove off. some paparazzis tried chasing the car, otherwise they stayed by the building.

"how did she know, kai? did you show your mic?" kyle asked.

"i'm sure it was fucking covered. i don't know how the hell that she knew. i saw him. he was in the back of the crowd. i don't know if he was in there listening or if there was a mic on the table. this is fucking unbelievable." i said.

i started to run my hands through my hair and tried to take deep breaths, trying to make sure i won't panic any more than i am.

i hear my phone start ringing again, i reach in my pocket and take my phone out. my hands can hardly hold the phone because of how much my hands are shaking.

billie.

it look me a couple tries to answer and i finally ended up answering it.

"take this mic off me, marissa. please. i feel like i'm choking on my collar" i told her.

i placed the phone up to my ear and hear billies voice, which instantly start to make me calm down.

"kai? KAI. baby please" i hear her say.

"billie" i choked out, my hands and voice are shaking violently and i feel tears form in my eyes.

"i heard everything, baby. we're alright. please get here as soon as you can" she says.

"we're gonna be there about 10 minutes." i say, my voice cracking.

marissa finishes unbuttoning my collar and taking the mic out. she rubs my arm and i try to focus on my breathing.

"i'm here, baby. take deep breaths, it's gonna be alright." i hear her say.

i take a deep breath, hold it for five seconds, then exhale slowly. i repeat the pattern until my heart rate starts to slow down.

after about two minutes of billie hearing me take deep breaths, i hear billie say, "good, baby. i'm proud of you, we can lay down together when you get here"

"i'd love that." i say.

almost ten minutes later, we pull into billie's driveway. i look out the window and instantly smile to see that we are at her house.

cody parked, turned towards me, and said "get some rest, kid. we'll talk about this in a little bit. we're doubling security at the house. no one will get in."

"thank you, cody." i said.

we got out of the car and as i put my feet on the ground, my legs felt weak, and my eyes hurt from crying. i felt so weak, i haven't had a moment like that in a very long time.

i opened the door and walked in. i instantly felt someone wrap their arms around my shouldersi recognized it was billie. i felt like i was about to cry again, and wrapped my arms around her waist tightly.

"it's okay baby, i'm here" i hear her say in my ear.

i've never felt more at home then this moment.
