chapter 26

i stand on the side of the stage as billie performs getting ready for my performance.

"bro she's singing aggressive as shit. i love it" cody says, by my side.

"i know man, she's good at what she does," i say, then i turn to him, "you holding up okay?"

"yes, i'm doing a lot better. i just want you to know one thing kai, i love being you and billie's guard. i wanna protect you guys at all cost." he says.

"i appreciate you" i tell him.

marissa walks up to my side with a bag of goldfish, "dude she's killing it tonight. she's really showing she's pissed off" she says.

"i know. and i love it." i tell her, wrapping my arm around her shoulder. "you know i love you right?" i asked her.

"i love you too, bro. kill it out there." she replies, hugging me back.

"you know i will" i told her.

we watch billie sing her final song, then when it ends, the lights go back and my song late nights starts to play. billie ran right by me, going along with our plan. she was about to run to me but she realized we couldn't show anyone besides our inner circle that we're seeing eachother.

i run below the stage to where there's a lift that slowly lifts me up to the front of the stage. i get on and hear a lot of people chanting my name.

i slowly get lifted to the top and the lights turn on, fans start to scream and start to sing my song along with me, i turn around and realize that kyle is playing the air guitar.

finally he's playing on stage now

we're almost done with the performance and it has been great so far. i've been so hyper during my songs because i've always wanted to sing at coachella before. when i'm about to start singing my last song, the fans start to scream really loud and chant billie's name.

i turn around and billie is running to me on stage.
she stops right next to me and gives me a smile.

shit. well fuck the plan i guess

we start to sing the song traitors together, and this song is one of my favorite alternative songs i made.

when we finished up the song, the fans celebrated our performance. i felt billie's hand slip into mine, and she threw our hand up, and we bowed. i face her and mouth the words 'you are the best' and she blushes.

i look out to the fans and then immediately notice something flying towards our faces. i hold my hand out and catch whatever it was, it was a brick.

"who threw that shit?" i yell into the mic, fans start to boo to where the brick came from.

"don't throw that fuckin shit" billie says into the mic.

i set it off then run off the stage with billie. when we get to the side of the stage, both my team and billies are together.

"so, fuck the plan?" i say to everyone.

"let's talk in the green room." maggie says.

we all walk into the green room and when i sit down, billie sits in my lap.

"so i was thinking, kai," maggie starts to say, "that we just continue what we are doing. but we just have security by us at all times besides when we want our private times of course. we will put them away, kai. i know you want to spend as much time with billie as you can, and billie does too. i talked to her about it while you performing and she agreed. i feel like you guys are meant for eachother. this is one of those situations where there's people trying to end it, and i know we can all get through this."

"i get what you're saying, maggie. and i love that idea. but i'm thinking that he's gonna just continue to try to torment us and break us apart, like someone just threw a brick at us. i can't tell if it was just some stupid person or one of his guys. i don't want you guys to get hurt" i tell her.

"we won't get hurt anymore, we weren't so serious about security as we should have been." finneas spoke up.

"we can all get through this together, you're family to us, and everything to billie." patrick says.

billie wraps her arms around my neck and says "i love you, kai."

i reply back to her and come up with an idea.

"guys, i think i have an idea" i said out loud, "we should have like a celebrity party, invite a bunch of people, and brandon and steve as well. it can be like a unanimous invite or some shit. i think i have ways we can catch him, but it's probably gonna be a little bit risky. we might be able to get him though." i say.

"ooooo i think i actually like that idea. i wanna put that son of a bitch behind bars" cody says.

"oh we will, trust me." i said.

we all get back to the hotel and me and billie instantly went up to our room.

"man that bullet proof vest was honestly tight as shit on me." i said.

"shit, i bet." billie says, giving me a kiss. "hey, i gotta question."

"ask away" i reply.

"are you thinking about getting top surgery? i mean i bet you got the money for it now." she asks me.

"you read my mind, because i was just thinking of that. i'm gonna get it right after this situation is over, because the recovery process is going to take a little bit." i say.

"i'm proud of you." she says, giving me another kiss.

"i love you so much, who knew i would be dating a celebrity" i joked.

"ha," she said, "who knew that i would be dating one too"

we both smile and passionately kiss. i slip my arms around her hips and pull her in to make sure there's no space between us, she moaned at the sudden movement.

when things started to get heated, my phone rings.

i pull away and say, "man i swear to god we almost always get interrupted."

"you ain't wrong" she replies.

i pull out my phone and see that i got two texts from marissa, one was a video and the second said 'look who threw the brick at you. i can't believe this'.

"baby, someone caught on film who threw the brick" i tell her.

she looks at my phone with me as i open up the video, i click play and my heart instantly drops as i see the woman throw the brick at me. when she turns around, i stop breathing.

"oh my god, isn't that..?" billie starts to say.

"my mom" my voice cracks as i said those two words.
