chapter 30

i sit on a bench in billie's backyard, contemplating on how i want to move forward in this situation. all i'm really thinking about though it how my mom is connected to all of this.

i take a deep breath and close my eyes, trying to picture the whole entire confrontation, seeing if i can remember seeing brandon there.

i remember looking around the whole entire restaurant and not seeing a man in a black hood. so how did he know that i was wearing a mic? could my mom have bugged the table and put a mic there?

that's gotta be the reason. it had to be.

this is unbelievable. i shouldn't have said anything in the first place, but now i can't take anything back. i have to deal with the consequences, and now the whole internet is going to know or find out i had an argument with my mom in public.

i get distracted from my thoughts when i hear someone get on the bench next to me, i open my eyes and look over to see billie's dog, shark, wanting me to pet him.

"hey buddy," i say, scratching his head, "where's your mom?"

"she's right here" i hear billie's voice say. i look up and notice that she's wearing a green tank top with a tartan long sleeve over it, along with darker green baggy pants.

how does she always look so good

"you're a goddess, woman" i tell her.

"you're adorable" she says, laughing. she picked up shark and sat down next to me.

after a minute of silence, i spoke up. "i wonder why my mom is part of this whole revenge plan"

"that's a good question. i never thought a mom would want to to this to their kid" she says.

i look over at shark and start petting behind his ear, he looks over at me and licks my hand.

"i want a dog" i said.

"you should get one when you get a house and you're all settled, you definitely seem like a dog person" she says, scratching shark's back.

"you should be there with me when i raise it" i said to her.

she looked at me with some thought in her eyes, and before she spoke, cody interrupted.

"hey guys," cody said from the back door, "we're meeting in the living room right now"

shark jumped down from billie's lap and ran inside. billie stood up and held out her hand, "i'd love to" she replied.

i smiled, feeling a blush run up on my face, and took her hand. we talked into the living room holding hands and noticed billie's family, also my sister and kyle, waiting to have a meeting.

i noticed there was no room to sit anywhere besides a chair, so i walked over to the chair and making billie sit on my lap. she sits down and right away, kyle starts to talk.

"okay so, we need to figure out what to do next about this. i know we discussed about a party and making his way of showing up, but since kai's mom is now involved in this, it might make things a lot more difficult"  kyle said.

"i have to ask," i spoke up after kyle was done, everyone's eyes looked at mine, "was the whole entire confrontation with my mom recorded?"

"yes, i recorded it." maggie said, "this is the only evidence we have again him though, and it's not enough"

"we need more, does anyone have any more ideas as to how we can get any more?" billie asked.

"we do have the vmas coming up in a couple weeks, and we could maybe do something then. but otherwise, i have no idea what we should do" kyle says.

"kai and billie should do a small concert somewhere in los angeles. i think if word gets out, he'll be there." finneas said.

i lean my head up against billie's back and wrap my hands around her waist, and think about what i want to do. i don't want anyone else hurt because of this. he already hurt people at the grammys when he set off a bomb. if he did that at the event then multiple lives would be lost.

i feel billie set her hands on mine, and almost as if she read my mind she said, "no. i don't want our fans to get hurt after what happened at the grammys. he could do that there too."

"we would only have one entrance available and the rest of the doors blocked off. we could have metal detectors and people checked out. we could make it work" cody says.

the room stays silent for a minute as everyone thinks, and i come up with the conclusion.

"okay," i said. "if we do this, you better check them good. he hates seeing me and billie perform together, and i think that if me and billie come out, he's not gonna be able to contain himself and expose himself, making us have more evidence. but cody, if anyone gets hurt because of him-"

"nobody will, and you have my word. you can wear an earpiece along with billie and we'll let you know if there's someone who has stuff on them or if everything's fine. if there is someone, we'll have enough time to evacuate everyone." he says.

"how soon should we do this event?" billie asks.

"tomorrow" kyle says.

"i don't know if i like this idea" finneas says.

"me neither," claudia spoke up. "it's like we're risking lives here"

"i know. i hate all of this, but we're gonna get him. me and billie love our fans more than anything, and we're gonna get this son of a bitch so he doesn't hurt anyone else. i'm gonna keep an eye on the fans the whole time" i said.

"alright," kyle says, standing up, "i'm gonna go set up the event then. i bet it's gonna sell out within minutes" he walks out of the room.

everyone starts to leave the room and billie gets off of my lap. i immediately get up and run my hands over my face. i think about the fans and the huge risk we are taking here. this is bigger than any risk we have taken when it comes to our fans.

i feel arms wrap around me, billie's.

"i don't like it either" she says. "i really don't want the fans hurt"

i wrap my arms around her waist and say, "i'm gonna keep an eye on them and you the whole time. we're all gonna be alright.

i wake up to a phone call from kyle, i swipe answer right away.

"hey, what's up?" i ask.

"hey, i set up the event an hour ago and it's set for 4 pm today. it's already sold out. i'm gonna come over with cody soon and we're gonna explain what's gonna happen" he says.

"okay, sounds good. but aye, i have a question." i say.

"ask" he says.

"are you and cody seeing eachother?" i ask him.

i hear him laugh a little bit before he says, "none of your business" then he hangs up.

i look at my phone with my jaw dropped. "no fucking way" i say.

"what?" billie asks, rolling over from her side of the bed to face me.

"i think kyle and cody are seeing eachother." i say.

"oh my god, they would be so cute to be honest" she says.

"i know," i say, i set my phone down then i turn over on my left side to face billie. "our event is at 4 pm today and it's already sold out."

"damn, they must love seeing us together" she says.

"well, they're gonna love it when we come out saying we're dating" i say.

she giggles, then moves closer to me and gives me a kiss. "i've honestly never came out with a relationship while i was dating someone before" she says.

"is it alright if we do?" i ask her.

"oh baby," she says, putting my hand on my waist, "it's more than okay"
