"I will get the hell out of your life for good"

Saying that he walked away from the room. I stayed numb thinking about how my life has turned. I hoped that everything would be good between us one day but nothing was going in the right direction since day one. I have to correct it now. I got out of bed and washed my face. Only after taking a deep breath did I walk out of my room. My eyes were puffy and red so I tried my best not to let dad see them. But Erick noticed it and asked me what was wrong. But I moved my head in denial saying nothing was wrong. I lifted my eyes to get the vegetable when I saw mad grey eyes looking at me and Erick with a clenched jaw. I looked away because I don't want to let my emotions out. Soon everyone came and I tried to forget my sorrows for some time but it was hard because with every breath I took his words asking me to get hell out of his life kept on moving in my head.

I tried to laugh at Logan's jokes but they were just empty laughs. An act I was putting forward to pretend that I was happy. I didn't look in his direction again when I found him looking at me all the time. Grace was telling him something hit his eyes and remained fixed on me as I played with my food.

"Sage, have this. I know this is your favourite dish" Erick said while putting some chicken crispy on my plate. I was about to deny it but he put it on my plate. He looked at me with a firm look saying he won't accept no.

"Thank you" I mumbled under my breath and took a bite of it. I felt mad grey eyes on me but I didn't look at him.

"Erick, I want a caring man like you to take care of my Sage," dad said while looking at me and him.

"But you are already engaged to this beautiful woman. Grace you are a lucky woman" dad said while looking at her to make her get choked on her food. Erick handed her a glass full of water with a grim look on his face.

"Are you ok?" I asked how everyone was looking at her.

"Yes, I'm. Thank you" she said sheepishly while taking a sip of water. Everyone went back to eating. "Sage, do you remember Maxwell?'' Dad asked out of nowhere as he opened his cell phone to search for something.

"Maxwell who," I asked, looking at him with furrowed eyes.

"That guy who was in your high school. That kid joined our restaurant as a partner timer" Dad said, making me remember him.

"You mean Max," I said, remembering him. A blond-haired boy popped up in my head.

"Yes, him. He was in town before I came here. He even came to the restaurant to meet you. I told him you were working here. He even asked me for your number" dad said in his cheerful voice making the small chit-chat going on at the table stop. I felt everyone's eyes on me. Especially the grey one the way he was looking at me made me grip my spoon and knife firmly.

"Dad," I said in my reserved voice, he didn't give him my number.

"What that boy has a huge crush on you. Why do you think he joined our restaurant as a part-timer when he is wealthy enough to open a couple of his own" dad asked in his duh voice while looking at me. I had nothing to say because I knew about his crush.

"Don't you think he is a handsome guy?" Dad asked while showing his picture to everyone. I bit my lower lip as he did so that it looked like he had already had him in his mind to match me with him. Erick gave a nod looking at the pic.

"Yes he is handsome," Grace said, looking at the picture and then passing it to others.

"He is a doctor" dad said with a grin on his face as if he had found a perfect match for him.
