That's what I thought.

Soft music kept on playing as I walked the aisle. My heart had not stopped palpitating in nervousness. Everyone's eyes were on me as soon as I started walking. My anxiety skyrocketed when I found hundreds of eyes on me. A big lump formed at the base of my throat, and my legs were shaking, but I kept walking, maintaining the smile on my face. I found my mom looking at me with tears in her eyes, and my expression matched hers. I never knew my brother, who acted so tough, was so soft on the inside. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I blinked them away and kept walking, doing my best not to fall. I felt his eyes on me, but I didn't look his way. I was not ready to do it. I knew if I looked into his grey eyes, I would trip over my wedding dress and fall on my face. Instead, I looked beside him to find all the guys standing there as his groomsmen.

Daniel was his best man. Beside him stood Erick, who smiled warmly at me. Then all my friends at the restaurant were standing beside him. The music stopped as we reached the stage. I lifted my eyes and looked at him. The head chef stood there looking as handsome as the devil in his crisp suit. His hair was perfectly gelled. His beard was trimmed, adding one more thing to the list of perfection. His striking grey eyes looked at me with so much emotion that it made the earth beneath me crumble. Can this man stop looking handsome for one day? I don't think it's possible. I found myself biting on my lower lip when my dad handed me his hand, asking him to take care of me.

"I will until my last breath." He said those words to my dad, making my heart skip a beat. He made me stand in front of him with my hands still in his. I kept looking down at my hands, which he was holding in a firm grip as if I would run away from here at any moment. His touch was sending sparks down my spine. Soon the priest started to recite the vows. All the things the head chef said to me that day when he made me come back with him started echoing in my head. He repeated those words when I didn't repeat them the first time.

"Miss Sage," he called for my attention, and that made me lift my eyes and look at him. I felt so many eyes on me, and that's when I realised he was asking me to repeat them. I repeated them with him.

"Do you, Sage King, take Xanthus Viline as your lawful wedded husband?" He asked me, and the head chef's grip on my hands became even more firm. I averted my eyes from the priest and looked into his grey one. They were striking, looking back into mine. I saw impatiens with agitation in them. His jaw was clenched as he looked down into my soul, making me swallow hard. I found everyone looking at us, waiting for me to say the two words that would bind me to him forever.

"I do," I said those words with a racing heart, looking straight into his grey eyes. I saw a moment of solace in them, but his eyes turned back to the emotions they were portraying a second ago. as if that moment of solace was an illusion created by my brain. Then the priest asked him the same question.

"Do you, Xanthus Viline, take Sage King as your lawful wedded wife?" he asked him while looking at him.

"I do," he said in a firm tone within a few seconds.

"I pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride," the priest announced, and as soon as he said those words, he pulled me towards him and connected our lips, not even giving me a second to sink the priest's words into me. All our guests cheered for us as he sealed our vows. I closed my eyes tightly. He kissed me hard and fast, as if trying to show me something. Something raw was smouldering in his heart, and somewhere deep in the corner of mine too. He let go of my lips when I was out of breath. After that, he kissed my forehead, making me open my eyes and look into his dark grey eyes. His small gesture spread a warm feeling inside me. Everyone started to congratulate us. I hugged all my friends and family. I cried while hugging my mom and dad.

"Please take care of her. She is our only daughter, and she is very precious to us. Don't disappoint me, son," my dad said while clasping his hand with him.

"I will not give you a chance to complain." He shook his hand firmly. They walked away after my mother kissed my forehead. I saw Elijah walking toward us. Looking at him, I couldn't hold back my tears. I cried on his shoulder as he hugged me tightly. I'm going to miss him so much.

"I love you," I mumbled into his neck. He broke the hug and wiped away my tears while cupping my face.

"I love you too. I'm going to miss you," he said with tears in his eyes and a faint smile on his face.

"If Sophia finds out that you're messing up your making with tears, I'm sure she will drag you back and do it again after scolding both of us," he said, making both of us laugh between tears. It's true. He gave me a tissue to clean my face. I should wipe it off before she sees my messed-up makeup.

"Don't forget Sage has a brother, and he is very capable of breaking jaws. Don't hurt my sister ever," he said in a firm tone, looking straight into the head chef's eyes.

"I will keep that in mind," the head chef said with an amused look in his eyes as he clasped his hand. With a curt nod, he walked away, leaving us alone. As soon as he walked away, I was pulled into a firm hold. My back was pressed against his firm chest. My breath hitched when he buried his face in my neck, taking a deep breath.

"What are you doing? Everyone is watching. Grandma is here too," I tried to reason as I saw people looking at us. My face turned red when I saw a few people moving their heads in amusement with known smiles on their faces. It made me duck my head to hide from their gaze.

"I don't care; let them watch. Let them see you belong to me, and no one can make me go away," he said in a firm tone. He kissed my exposed, bare shoulder and nuzzled into my neck, then said the next words with finality, sending a chill down my spine. His hold went tight around my waist.

"Start getting used to it because there is no way out of it."
