I think I still have escaped from this loveless marriage.
"Grandma, you can't change anything now. We are legally married" he declared looking at his mad grandma. Grandma, don't listen to him and stay firm on your decision. I kept chanting in my head.
"I will not accept it and it's final. Marriage doesn't mean just signing papers. It has to be done under God's presence with both the family's approval and blessing. You kids nowadays have made marriage look like a child's play" she said in her firm voice while glaring at her grandson. She didn't like what he had done and it was visible in her every word. Yes, grandma, stay firm on your decision. I support you. Tell him this marriage is over. I wanted to cheer for her loudly but I controlled my emotions. I stayed quiet listening to her words. I pretended to act innocent. After all, it was his idea of trapping me in a loveless marriage. So he deserves all the scolding. I was having fun because he was getting scolded. He was the one who always scolds people, especially me but now it's his turn. Karma is a bitch. I bit my lower lip, stopping myself from grinning wildly after looking at his distressed face. Go, grandma, show him who the real boss is.
"Dad" he whined like a kid while looking at his father. It was fun to watch him getting all worked up.
"Mom I know they did wrong but now they are already married" I heard the head chef's dad saying to calm down his mother. It was the first time I ever heard him talking. His serious voice was the same as his son's. Now that I see it he looked like an exact copy of his dad.
"And both the kids love each other" his mother came in to support us. I wanted to scoff at her words. Love! There is no such thing between us. He married me only to take his revenge on me. Why are they helping us? They should oppose us like grandma. I wanted to move my head in disapproval.
"Mom, calm down and think about it. I know they made a mistake by not telling us soon but they are married and we can't change it" his father said again making grandma look at us. Her old eyes moved from him to me. I smiled faintly at her not knowing what exact expression I should have on my face. She exhaled loudly and my hope started to diminish as her face softened. No Grandma no don't give in just like that. Stay firm in your decision. My inner voice screamed. But too bad she can't hear it.
"Do your parents know that you both are married?" she asked me while looking straight into my afraid eyes. I was caught off guard by that question. I have to tell this to my patients too. A big mountain of mess was about to collapse if I gave this news to my family. They will be so disappointed in me. A worry clouded my mind when I thought of it.
"N--no" I stuttered while looking down at my clasped fingers. I started to see my family's disappointed faces in front of my eyes.
"God" she exclaimed while rubbing her template. "I bet it was your idea right," grandma said accusingly while looking at her grandson. His jaw clenched but he didn't say anything.
"Call her parents. Ask them to come here" she said, making me look at her with a horrified face.
"W-why grandma" I stuttered again while looking at her.
"Because both of you are getting married again but this time with all the proper rituals and in the presence of both the family," she said firmly, making me shut my mouth. My hope was snatched away from me. I bit my lower lip in distress. I'm getting married to a grey eye monster again.
"Lena, go and get some food for Sage. Look how weak she had become since the last time I saw her. I don't want her to faint at her own wedding" grandma said to her mother.
"I will get something delicious for you," his mother said while smiling at me lovingly.
"Grandma I'm not hungry," I said in my small voice because all my appetite was long gone.
"No. I won't take any excuses. You should put on some weight soon. One day you will carry the heir of this family and I want you to stay healthy and happy" she said, making my face turn red. It sounded so foreign to my ears. I lowered my eyes when I felt his gaze on me.
"From now onwards you are going to have your meals in front of me," she said firmly while looking at me. Even though she said it firmly her tone holds softness. It made me look at her in confusion.
"What do you mean she is going to eat in front of your eyes?" He asked as soon as he heard grandma saying it.
"I mean what I said," she answered while looking at him with a smirk on her face.
"Grandma, you know we are leaving for my place in an hour," he said, clearly getting to the point.
"Correction only you are leaving. Sage will stay with us until you get married. It's a bad omen if the groom and bride stay together when they are about to get married. You can't even meet her before you get married" his grandma explained, making him look at her in disbelief.
"Grandma in which era you are living? No one believes that old belief now and on top of that we are already married" he opposed the idea in his deep voice.
"But this old lady still believes in them. If you want me to accept your marriage then you have to do what I say" she said in her commanding voice making him look at her in disbelief. His jaw clenched because he didn't want to accept it. Relief flooded my heart when I heard that. It means I can live a few days of my life happily. A small smile played on my lips but it vanished when I saw his glaring grey eyes looking at me.
"Xanthus listen to your grandma. You have no other choice" his father said firmly, trying to make him accept this.
"I know you don't want to start away from Sage but you have to. Your dad and I didn't meet until our wedding once the date was near," his mother said, making him clench his jaw because now he had to accept it against his will.
"Do whatever you want to do?" he said as he stood up and stomped out of the room in anger.
"He will come around," his grandma said, knowing his grandson like the back of her hand.
"I will talk to him," his father said. "Welcome to the family," he said warmly before following his son. I smiled faintly at him. His mother brought some delicious food for me and grandma made me eat it all.
Now Isabella and Grace were in my room. They were excited after knowing that we were getting married again. They told me how he had a message for everyone to gather in the house because he had something important to tell. They asked me if everything was good between us but I just gave a small nod in return. After that, they didn't ask me much. Erick has left without talking with me. I think he is mad at me. I need to talk with him. I came to know that Erick and Grace's engagement was after two days so the whole house was busy in preparation. After their engagement grandma was going to fix our wedding day. Head chef left in anger. He kept constantly glaring at me while leaving the house as I was the one who did this. I ignored it. I will deal with him once I get married until then I'm free.
But my misconception was shattered when I went to the restaurant to meet my friends.
