The wind whipped my hair as I buried my face in Daryl's back. He didn't seem to mind though. Daryl, Charlie, and I rode towards the small freeway.

There was a group of people gathered around the cars. My heart sped up as we neared. So we turned to look at us. It was them. It was our group. I tried to spot out Maggie, Beth, and daddy.

We pulled over to the side and parked. I hopped off after Charlie and ran over to daddy. I was quickly embraced into a hug by Daddy, Beth, and Maggie. I squeezed them hard.

I separated and held Beth as she cried into me. I hushed her and asked Maggie, "Where's Jimmy?"

She shook her head. "He went down inside the RV."

Now Jimmy was among the dead too? We are loosing everyone since Rick and his group showed up.

"Patricia?" Daddy asked.

"Oh daddy," Beth sobbed. "I had her in my arms, but they yanked her away, daddy."

She pulled away and daddy hugged her. She was too young for this world. She was too innocent.

"Andrea?" I asked anyone.

"I saw her go down." T-Dog muttered sadly.

The group grew quiet. All grieving.

"Shane?" Lori asked in a small voice.

Rick looked down and shook his head. The way he silenced and the way he averted his eyes, I knew he had something to do with Shane's death.

It was nightfall when we set up camp off the side of the road. I sat with Beth hugging tight onto me as we sat in a circle around the fire.

Earlier, I had seen Lori walk up to Rick and hugged him from behind. The talked for a while before she looked sick to her stomach. She shoved him back and briskly walked away. Which led me to believe they had a pretty bad fight.

A twig snapped on the bushes causing us all to jump.

"What was that?" Carol asked clearly panicked.

Daryl shrugged, unconcerned "Could be anything."

That obviously didn't calm her, "Do something!" She told Rick.

"I am." He snapped. "I'm keeping this group safe the best I can. I killed my best friend for you people!"

A wave of shock and silence settled over the group. I knew he had something to do, I didn't know he was the cause. I had that funny talent of knowing when people lied.

Carl cried into his mother's arms as Rick went on.

"You all saw how he was. How he pushed me. If any of you don't like it there's the road. Why don't you send me a postcard? How long do you think you'll make it out there? But if you stay, let's get something straight.......this isn't a democracy any more." Rick said in a deep voice. He walked away towards the woods.

No one dared to say anything. No one made a move. I looked over at Lori. She made no move to go for Rick. I didn't know if Rick's had feelings for me, but he needed someone other than Lori at the moment.

I quietly got up and walked over to where he stood behind a tree. He didn't look like himself. He looked like the weight of the world was on his shoulder.

His back was turned to me. He pinched in between his eyes.

I walked up to him and stood next to him. We stood in silence for a few moments, listening to the crickets.

"Hey," I said quietly.

He remained quiet, so I continued.

"I know you do what has to be done to protect this group. I know that we lost the farm, but I also know that me or my family probably won't survive without you, Rick." I turned to look him in the eyes. "I trust you with my life, Rick with my family's life."

He looked at me with such solemn eyes. I saw a strange glint behind them.

He took a step closer a brushed my wild hair behind my ear. I leaned in a little. My heart was starting to beat fast.

I usually didn't care what men thought of me as. But Rick was different. I could hardly speak right around him, my heart sped up if he looked at me, I was a nervous mess.

His hand rested on my neck. He looked at me as if he was asking permission. At the moment I saw his weak side. His unguarded side. He looked vulnerable and innocent.

He leaned in and I closed my eyes as his lips gently smashed against mine. You know how people say that feeling is like 'fireworks'? It's so much more. My stomach felt like it was on a rollercoaster.

His hand gently played with my hair as our lips moved in sync. I slowly pulled away from him. I looked up at him with wide eyes.

Without saying anything else, I turned and went back to the camp. I sat down next to Beth and Maggie.

Maggie nudged me and whispered, "I told you,"

I smiled and and stared into the burning fire, thinking of the sheriff.

A/N;

Oh guys! They kissed. It's their first kiss! What did you think? Was it rushed? Was not detailed enough? Let me know.
