I shined the dull flashlight down another hall. An eerie silence filled the air as we moved down the corridor.

I was in the lead, with the two kids behind me. I rounded a corner and was jumped by a male prison walker.

I gave a small scream as it grabbed my shoulders. Carl shot it with his silenced handgun and it crumbled to the ground.

I dusted my shirt off and thanked Carl for the save. We continued on our way to the medical center. After walking around the prison for a long time, I realized we were getting close to the right spot. There were signs for it.

Finally we came to a door. I griped the door handle and gave Beth and Carl a look before I slowly opened the door to the medical center.

The door, thankfully, didn't make a noise as we all entered. I propped my machete against the door so it didn't shut, and we could make a fast getaway if needed.

"Stay within shouting distance." I told the two as we separated.

"What exactly should we look for?" Beth asked as she went down the isle beside me.

"Anything and everything. Pills, bandages, anything you can carry. We can clear it when the rest of the group is with us, for now, just grab and go." I informed them as I grabbed handfuls of bandages. I grabbed the bag off of Beth and stuffed the supplies inside.

Something caught my eye down the isle, so I went further in the room; away from Beth and Carl. My boots quietly scuffed the concrete ground as I followed the blood smear. It lead around the corner and into a closet, the door was slightly opened.

I flicked on my flashlight and slowly opened the door to the closet. The stench of something dead hit my nose and I had to cover my face with my hand.

Before me lay a dead corpse wearing a prison uniform. It was definitely a male, he had a name tag that read Ray.  He looked like he was still human when he was killed. Like he had been murdered.

"Lucy?" Beth called from outside the closet.

I jumped and quickly shut the door behind me. I turned to see Beth and Carl staring at me expectingly.

"What was in there?" Carl asked me as he stretched his neck to see around me.

"Nothing, nothing, just a walker. Come on, let's get going." I lied as pushed them towards the door.

"I'll go first, then Beth, then you okay?" I informed Carl.

He nodded and followed me out the door. We silently crept through the corridors towards our cell block. Our flashlights shined through dust floating around in the air. I followed the white spray painted arrows that I had done earlier today when daddy.....got hurt.

I rounded a corner and stopped dead in my tracks. Ahead of us were about 15 to 20 walkers mulling around.

I pushed the kids up against the wall and put my finger to my lips. They nodded, understanding me.

I raked a hand through my hair and peeked back around the corner. There was no way we could sneak past them, or kill them.

I looked back at the kids to see Beth was frightened, Carl looked nervous too but he was trying to hide it. I blew out a shaky breath.

"Listen," I whispered to them. "I'm going to run that way to distract them, okay?"

Beth tried to cut me off but I griped her skinny shoulder.

"Listen to me, I'm going to run that way to distract them so you guys can get back to our cell block, okay? When I run down that hall, you guys don't make a sound or move, just wait for them to follow me, and then go back. Just follow the arrows, our cell block is just down the hall, okay?" I whispered, trying to make sure they knew every part of the plan.
