Chapter 18; Deep Conversations

A/N; my mom is out of the hospital! Yay! So here as promised, is chapter 18.

"So, earlier this year, he kissed me. Yes, kissed me, on the lips. It was a sweet kiss. It gave me butterflies in my stomach." I laughed a little.
"Ever since dinner at the farm, he looks at me differently. Now, I don't know if it's romantic or a sisterly way or....ugh, I dunno." I ran a hand through my dark hair and sighed.
"But, now he just seems...mad at me. Like he's made at me for kissing him because he's married. I really really like him. But I don't think he feels the same."
"I um...I had a dream of him last night. We uh, we kissed. Just like that night we left the farm. It amazing, he's amazing. I want him...."

Charlie cocked his head to the side as he listened to me talk to him. We sat in my prison cell, on the floor. I rubbed his neck as I spoke.

"What do you think I should do, Charlie?" I asked him and I stopped rubbing.

He groaned a little in response.

"Yeah, your not much to talk to huh? I'm gonna go fine Maggie then. Come Charlie." I called to him as I stood up and walked out of my cell.

I walked downstairs to see Daddy trying to stand with the help of Beth, Carol, Lori, and Maggie.

"What are you doing?" I asked as I stepped off the last step.

"I'm not sitting around any longer." Daddy declared.

I put my hands on my hips and tried my best disappointed look.

"Daddy, you need to rest. Just one more day of rest, please?"

He shook his head, "No, I'm getting some fresh air today. Help me outside."

I rolled my eyes but smiled as I took his left side and Beth took his right. We walked up the stairs and out the door.

As soon as Carl opened the door, we were hit by the bright sun shining in our eyes. I helped Herschel down the stairs and out in the courtyard.

I breathed in the fresh air as the hot Georgia sun beat down on my skin.

"Ready for a race, Herschel?" Carl teased my father. I smiled at the two as my eye caught the men working down in the field.

Rick and the others turned to see us. I smiled at him and gave a small wave. I couldn't be too certain, but I thought he smiled back at me.

"Walkers!" Carl yelled from behind me. I immediately spun around to see about 20 walkers came around the corner of the courtyard. Charlie growled and began barking very loudly at them. He ran forward a little, trying to intimidate them.

"Everyone back inside the prison!" Maggie yelled. I spun back around and tried to help daddy back in the door.

As soon as he was in the cage, I locked them in and ran back over to help Maggie, even though Beth and Daddy called for me not to.

I whipped out my handgun and shot a female walker in the head. It collapsed to the ground, but like water, more filled its place.

I called for Charlie, even though I couldn't see him anywhere. I made it to Carl and grabbed his arm.

"Come on!" I dragged him over to Lori and Maggie. "Inside that door!"
