Next we had to clear the halls of the prison. I volunteered to help, but daddy wasn't too thrilled.
"I can do it Daddy. I can take care of myself." I insisted.
Daddy took me off to the side. "I'm worried that walkers aren't the only threat in there. I'd feel better if you stay behind."
"Daddy, I'm not gonna sit here and do nothin'. I can help clear." I said defiantly.
He sighed, "You are my daughter, and I'm telling you to stay here."
I don't know why I said what I said next. I regret the words that flew out.
"I'm not even your daughter. If Maggie can go, so can I." I said as I brushed pass him.
I stood next to Maggie as we got ready to go in.
"Beth, watch Charlie, would you?" I asked her.
She nodded and held Charlie's collar as Carl locked the cell behind us. Carl, Lori, Beth, and Carol were staying behind.
I followed closely behind Rick as we went into the dark hallways. A few of us, including myself, had flashlights. I held the light up as Glenn used a white can of spray paint to draw an arrow pointing us back incase we got lost.
We walked for a few minutes until Rick broke the silence.
"I think we're almost-" he was cut off by the on going herd in front of us. We all jumped and ran back down the hall behind us.
I ran from everyone else. I tried to stay with the group, but I was separated by the small herd of crowding walkers.
Without thinking, I locked myself in a nearby closet. I held my hand on the doorknob, in fear that they would get in. I could feel my heart hammering against my chest. I could hear the shuffling of walkers go by.
After what felt like hours, ( probably only minutes) the moaning and shuffling stopped, all I could hear was the sound of my husky breathing.
I twisted the knob and peeked out. I winced when it made a loud squeak. There were no walkers in cite. I gripped my machete tightly as I slowly walked out.
"Maggie! Lucy!" I heard someone whisper/yelled. It was daddy.
"Daddy?" I whispered. I followed the sound of his voice.
The sound of a pain filled cry made me sprint down the hall. I rounded a corner, only to see daddy laying on the floor with a walker chewing his leg.
"Daddy!" I screamed as I ran over and stabbed the walker in his temple.
Rick and the rest came running towards us, along with Maggie and Glenn.
"In there!" Rick said once he saw more walkers heading our way. Daryl and Rick picked up Daddy and carried him into what looked like a kitchen.
T-Dog shut the doors behind us and guarded it to make sure no walkers can get in.
I fell on my knees next to daddy. I cried as I held onto him.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Daddy." I repeated over and over again through my tears. Maggie held daddy's head. I turned to Rick.
"Take off your belt." I demanded.
"What?" He looked startled.
"Give me your belt. We need to cut off his circulation." I repeated.
He obliged and I wrapped the belt tightly around Daddy's bleeding leg.
I grabbed a fire ax off the wall and brought it back to where daddy was lying. I hesitated, Rick carefully took it out of my hands.
"I'll do it." He muttered as he turned back to Herschel. He roughly brought the ax down an daddy's leg.
My father cried out in pain as Rick brought it down again. Daddy's head fell limp against Maggie. Maggie looked at me in shock.
"It's okay, he's just passed out." I informed her.
Rick brought the ax down a finale time as daddy's leg fell right off.
"Glenn," I said. "Get something to move him."
"Duck." Daryl muttered.
I looked at him questioningly, but Rick shoved me down. Daryl raised his crossbow up behind us. I quickly turned around to see.
There stood four prisoners behind the kitchen looking at us in horror.
Daryl kept an eye on them as we wheeled out an unconscious Herschel back down the hall."Lori!" Rick called out as Carl ran to the cell block gate. He unlocked it and they rolled Herschel into the cell.
Charlie barred his teeth and growled at the direction of the hall. I looked as the four prisoners peeked their heads into the cell block.
Charlie barked once as a warning to the prisoners. His ears were pined flat against his head. His fluffy, playfully tail was now tucked between his legs. His long, graceful back was arched and guarded.
Honestly, if Charlie was unnerved, that made me a little scared....Okay, very scared.
"That's close enough." Daryl warned the first prisoner. He had long, dark greasy hair. His tan Mexican futures were covered with sweat from the hot Georgia sun. His white muscle shirt was stained with sweat. I saw a small handgun tucked into his pants.
"What's wrong with him?" The Mexican leader asked.
"He was bitten." I answered him.
Their criminal eyes landed on me and I fidgeted under their intense stare.
"Lucy," Rick came up behind me. "Your father needs you." He whispered to me.
I looked back at the criminals one last time, and nodded at Rick. I took off towards the cell daddy was in. Carl shut and locked the cell block behind me.
