The Texas sun seeped through Selene's blinds and onto the small of her back as she lay naked and uncovered on her bed. She felt a hand going up her thigh. It was her husband, he had just gotten home from one of his weekly 3 day business trips. "Good morning sweetheart", he kissed her back and moved her long dirty blonde hair from her sleepy face. "Have you heard anything back from the doctors office yet?" Selenes heart raced at the thought she may have an email waiting from him in her inbox. She grabbed for her phone resting on the nightstand and checked...instantly seeing "offer letter" in one of the subjects. She clicked on it and read quickly, "We are please to extend an offer of employment with our practice effective immediately. Below is a detailed description of expectations, compensation and daily tasks. Please let us know as soon as possible if you're interested and when you would be able to start. Best wishes, Dr. Rose." Her heart fluttered reading his name and knowing she would be able to see him everyday now. She squealed excitedly, "I got the job!!" Her husband smiled and told her he knew she would and proceeded to ask how things had been while he was gone. They didn't speak much when he was on the road, he had two phones which slightly annoyed Selene but she never dared to look at them because if she was honest with herself, she didn't care if he saw other women. She felt stuck in their relationship after he in his typical frat boy way had gotten physical a time or two when he had had too much to drink and was feeling insecure. Selene was always good to him, but he called her a slut and whore because she would get attention from other men when they would go out, even his friends would be flirty. But she couldn't help that, men were men, and she was eye candy for them. Tan, small framed at 125 pounds soaking wet, big green blue eyes that beckoned to be stared at, and he had fallen in love with them once. Now he just wanted to possess them. It was a turn off that he couldn't be secure and made him look weak, like he couldn't handle her well enough to keep her. They married young, he had just finished his bachelors in marketing and come back from school, she was finishing her liberal arts degree and felt lonely. They started dating and quickly fell in puppy love but they were just babies when they got together at 19 and 21. Now a few years later, their marriage was stuck in a rut, and they had grown into different people entirely. Selene felt it was fine to grow, but the importance of growing together was overlooked, and therefore lost between them. She felt a tinge of guilt knowing she couldn't wait to see the doctor again, but knew how her husband was on the road and felt that he too had his share of discrepancies and flirtatious romps. She hit reply on the email. "Good morning, I am looking forward to working for your company and would be able to start as soon as you need me. Thank you for this opportunity I am anxious to get started. Sincerely, Selene." An hour later she received another response, "Great to hear, see you Monday at 8am sharp. Dr. Rose". She fell back on the bed and let her phone rest on her beating chest as she smiled to herself, thinking of those piercing, knowing eyes of his.
