( AUTHOR POV )

The two huge males continued to fight long after the bite came. Their movements slowing but never halting as green and black scales clashed, fighting for dominance neither was willing to give to the other. Just like the serpents they resembled in part they writhed, the mass of muscle that was their coils tangling as one tried to disable the other. The sound alone of the fighting was a horrendous thing to hear, the hisses both males produced were enough to leave those watching wanting to coil away from the sound. Yet none did in fear of disturbing the two fighting or worse not see the outcome. As the large male sent Karn's form flying from his own into a tree at the clearings edge, the sound of wood cracking filled the air along with the dark male's roar of rage. As he lunged back however Bela was ready for him meeting him head on. By now any animals that had been brave enough to remain in the presence of such predators would have finally fled, leaving the air broken by only the battle of the two hulking males. The sound of flesh hitting flesh was sickening, yet neither male would give any ground. However one was clearly faring better. It was easy to see by the how pale and sickly his skin was becoming the darker male of the pair was suffering, the venom in his veins killing parts of his body that could not be seen. One by one his organs were slowly failing him. Struggling to not shut down under the venoms devastating effects, as calculating eyes watched the change happen.

( BELA POV )

Dodging another blow I narrowed my eyes at the dark male in front of me, striking a blow of my own sending his body backwards and giving me time to observe him. I could not stop the frown at what I saw. I knew my venom's effects. After years of being high lord, dealing with many who warranted my judgement I knew what would happen. Yet the signs were not all there. I had stuck close to his heart, by now even a male of his size should be writhing in pain or at least no longer able to strike back in defence. Yet this one continued to fight me, true his strikes were slower and weaker yet he remaining moving. Glaring at this male I looked closer at him, the slight nagging of recognition I had before finally falling into place. His colouring although mostly common had patches of colour that shouldn't be there. Red and gold mingling amongst the black, even how his scales fell differently than most of our kind. Striking out stopping his next attack I glared down at his form as he rolled away, no doubt preparing to strike again. He was not a venom user... but someone in his line once was. It was far from impossible, many of my own line did not wish to follow the path of duty we carried. Most died for their choice but some escaped fate for a short time, having young of their own and hiding them away before their deaths. Taking a blow to my right I hissed at the pain before twisting, taking the arm that had struck me and turning it until a satisfying crack filled the air.

Watching him back away I realised I had only dislocated the arm and not broken it, but it would be enough to buy me time to think. With venom wielders in his bloodline no matter how long ago, he would have a small immunity to my venom. I would have to strike him many, many times to give him a large enough dose to kill him. Luckily enough he would not be able to produce his own, his line would carry venom of sorts but it would be weak at best. To our kind an irritant and even on humans not deadly, although to know the affects I would have to see it used. My eyes caught Y/N's form sitting watching with her hands curled into small fists at her side. The thought of it being used on her made my blood boil, fuelling my desire to end this male and see my judgement carried through. Doing so would be more difficult however than I believed before. To strike him again by the heart would be difficult, and I would need to latch on to deliver enough venom to kill. Watching my opponent's movement I knew that would not be an option, he still had the strength to kill me should i remain that close for too long. Which left me with the choice of brute strength, where I still held the higher ground. I simply needed to disable him long enough to strike a killing blow. My eyes latched instantly to where his back met coils. One strike, just one strike there and I could end this.
