Chapter Fifteen - Undeniable Hungers ( Lemon )

( NORMAL POV )

I held my breath for a moment when I felt the baby inside Yumi's stomach; I couldn't help but think back to that portrait of Clarissa's baby. I had always wanted children of my own; having grown up an only child I wanted nothing more than to have more than one child; not wanting my children to be lonely like I had been at times before I got into school and met my friends. A cold wave went through me dampening the warm glow the baby's presence had made, blinking it away as best as I could I tried to send those thoughts away coming back to the moment I was in. Moving back my hand still on the warm skin I looked up to Yumi finding her watching me warmly, and I thought back on what she had asked me for. Mai had told me that the lead female in a territory could be asked for blessings from females under her, kind of like wishing her baby well and offering it protection should the mother pass in labour. I didn't see why not after all I was only wishing her well, I was happy to do that especially as she had sought me out; probably against Karn's warnings. Leaning forward I gently kissed the warm skin of Yumi's stomach moving back watching the space my hand still touched. "I hope you grow up big and strong sweetie, and I know your mummy will love you as soon as you are in her arms. And if I am here you can always come to me" I ignored the people around me looking unsure at my last sentence but I looked up to find Yumi smiling down at me the hand on top of my own squeezing gently, a silent thank you that I took happily. Moving back I gently looked to Mai seeing her look proud even if she was unsure; smiling in return I looked back to Yumi. "I understand if you don't want to but we're all staying here for a little while, do you want to stay with us till I have to go back to my cel- I mean den?" Yumi frowned at my slip up but didn't say anything on the subject which I was thankful for. "I would be honoured to spend some time in your company Lady Y/N. If that is your escorts approve" I turned looking to Kirin and Mai who seemed torn for a moment, before Mai finally sighed turning to Yumi, her voice and expression stern. "You may remain however if you become harmful to Y/N in any way you will be sent away, and of course Lord Karn will be informed of this visit"

When Yumi paled I laughed taking her attention moving back to where I had been sitting, taking my seat back I sat crossing my legs offering a reassuring smiled to everyone who was watching me. "Don't worry I will talk to Karn, I will say it was my idea. Besides he wants me to accept my place here, this will show him I am right?" Kirin nodded mutely which I took as a moment to pat the ground next to me inviting Yumi to sit with me, she smiled taking it and came to sit with me wrapping her coil around to sit on as Coral came to sit on my other side. I took the time to look Yumi over more closely, she was beautiful like all of the women I had seen here but she was especially striking because of the snake she reminded me of. Her scales were a mixture of vibrant red tones oranges and yellows with a few scattered scales which were a reddish violet, with a sandy yellow colour decorating her under belly like the African bush viper; while her hair was a vibrant red with deep orange highlights filtering through the long length of hair. It was one of the few venomous snakes I had encountered in person while my father took me with him on business to Africa, and its vibrant colouring had haunted me for months after; partly because I had almost gotten too close and been bitten. Had it not been for my guide I would have died for the mistake but despite that I hadn't hated the animal like most might have, after all I stumbled into its territory and I was in its home; it was only doing what it though it needed to protect itself from a threat. But from what I had seen of Yumi so far she was far from the dangerous serpent I had met, rather she seemed calm and sweet but undeniably brave. She was smaller than Mai and Kirin but larger than Coral but since she looked older than Coral that stood to reason, and from how swollen her stomach was I would say she was due to give birth if she was human; but with the fact she wasn't there was no way to know if I was right without asking. And I wasn't quite ready to ask her that yet, she seemed fine with me but unsure about the other three with us and I felt a little bad for that; they were only doing as they were told and being protective of me.
