Harry Potter**

He returned to Hogwarts at 6 AM on the dot, going through the portal into his room. He cleaned up, went to breakfast as if everything were normal, and sat with Naelleka for breakfast. He didn't find her particularly interesting to talk to, and as she rambled about one thing or another, he just focused on eating all that he could.

Professor Flitwick, his head of house, had presented Harry with the potions from Severus, and dubtifully, Harry had taken the prescribed amounts. He continued to spend more time with the girl who'd stood up for him, explaining much about subjects she'd yet to grasp, and found that he rather enjoyed teaching. It felt like his own accomplishments when she got her match to fully transform into a needle for the first time.

They did drift apart midmorning though, and Harry was happy to keep company with the Slytherin trio he'd befriended. Draco, Blaise and Theo were far more riveting than the girl from his own house had been. They told jokes, practiced hexes and charms on spiders, complained about certain classes or teachers, and generally had a good time.

It was nice to have friends.

They'd been hanging out for a while when Harry asked, "Is there a reason why we have to sit at our house tables during mealtimes? I read the Hogwarts' rule book, but I couldn't find mention of such a thing."

Blaise laughed  a bit, saying, "Only you would read the school's rule book. It's the size of all our textbooks put together."

"That's cause it's not official," Draco said lazily in answer to Harry's question, "It's just always been that way. House rivalries keeping people apart, and also the teachers claim it'll help us to bond better with our housemates. More time together, their theory goes, will make friendships foster. Though really I think it's somewhat stupid. If there's someone annoying, then it would be better for them to sit at a table where someone else actually wants to be around them rather than stuck irritating their housemates constantly."

Curiously, Harry asked, "Do you think I could sit at the Slytherin table for lunch?"

"Don't see how you could get in trouble for it," Theo said, bright blue eyes surfacing from a book on a beginner's guide to hexes, "I mean, there's no official rules about it, so I say if you really want to you should just go for it. We'd love to have you at the table."

"Ditto," Blaise said, nodding at his black haired friend.

"And anyways," Draco added, "If any of the teachers or Dumbledore stir up a fuss about it, I'm sure I could get my Father to make your case. After all, you really aren't breaking any rules."

Harry nodded, and the plan was set.

The four boys entered the hall together quietly, and settled themselves down comfortably at the Slytherin table. Harry took his potion, and Draco asked, "What was that?"

"It's a weight restorative potion," Harry said nonchalantly, "Professor Snape prescribed it to me."

The three other boys looked at each other in a meaningful sort of way, and Harry was of the impression that they had guessed the origin of his need for the potion.

"Snape?" Theo said, eyes wide and mouth slightly parted in surprise, "I thought there was bad blood between you or something. Why were you upset with him if he was only trying to help you? I'm not meaning to pry, I just don't understand."

"Oh, he didn't until last night during my detention with him," Harry said absentmindedly.

"Detention?! He gave you a detention? Why? You're like, the model student according to the school grape vine. Unfailingly polite, great in all your classes, why'd you get a detention?" Blaise queried confusedly.
