"did they just come back to life?"
she took a sip of her already cold coffee that i made for her half an hour ago.
it was the morning in the middle of july - with sky looking angry all day long as if it turned into an ocean with contagious red tide. the cosmos probably preferred it that way, with the sun ever glowing, and the moon envious but still bold enough to show itself as no one would bother watching.
we were at the convenience store, sitting comfortably while watching the dead suddenly appearing and animating back to life outside the store's window wall.
the world had already ended - for most of it. and we somehow survived.
i snorted, my lips curved in a smirk. "i couldn't be more surprised."
i met her an hour ago in this exact place, both trying to find goods enough to keep us kicking.
i wasn't even surprised i won't spend the wnd of the world alone - unless one of us join the looming of dead - who, apparently, was scratching the window, gnawing at us, leaving blood stained marks as they pushed their heads as if they'll be able to just simply break the glass.
"ah, this is nice," she sighed audibly, her shoulders unbelievably relaxing, setting aside her defense down.
she put the rim of the mug close to her lips, biting the edge like an amused child. her expression was somehow perplexing, as if the idea of spending the end of the world with reanimated dead people with a stranger she just met an hour ago was appealing.
"so nice."
"what is?" i asked abeit already knowing the answer.
"knowing our end."
"you sure do crazy," i chuckled.
she winked, "you sure do as well."
