Tylor
Winter has gone and hot summer knocked on the door. I turned 17 this year and still I love sports. I have been playing volleyball for almost an hour. My T-shirt is completely soaked in sweat. It's damn hot. The month of July is the hottest, humidity is at its peak. "I need a break" I announced. And walk off the field. I sank to the sand and took out my water bottle from the bag. I drank almost in one go. It feels good now. I watch as she runs towards me, her pony is swinging as she runs. She looks damn cute in her pink shorts.
Alice smiled when came closer, "You were awesome! "
I smirk, "I know".
She lay beside me, "I'm tired as dead". When I didn't reply, she glanced up at me "I can't believe we won the match. Thanks to you".
"It's teamwork. I'm not going to take credit alone". I say and pull off my T-shirt, "I need a shower. I'll be right back".
She sits up "What? Shower? When you have this big deep ocean right in front of you, still you want a shower".
"That's because I want fresh water, not salt water".
She makes face, "Oh come on. You sound like Dorian".
I chuckle as I grab my bag, and am about walk off when she speaks again "Fine. I'll go by myself".
"Go where?" When I turned, she wasn't there, I look around and she was already at the edge of the ocean. God, she is so stubborn. She took out her white T-shirt and threw it on the sand.
I stop breathing.
It's hot. It's in the nineteen today. And she needs to cool off. I catch sight of some boys, staring down at her as
she dives into the ocean. My hand tightened around the bag. Assholes.
She pops back up to the surface, floating on her back and resting there, her skin is shining under the sun, making her damn attractive and I see a smile curl their fucking lips.
"Fucking hell," I hiss under my breath.
I ran and without looking at anyone, I jumped into the ocean with a splash.I grab her, she jerks for a second but quickly softens when saw me.
"I thought you were heading for the shower," she says, pushing water from her head. I dart my eyes up, their eyes flash to me, and I shoot them a middle finger.
"Just change of plan," I told her. She giggles. I watch them leaving. Bastards."It feels good, isn't it?" She question,
I narrow my eyes, I don't know what is she talking about. "The water" she adds.
"Yeah" I replied, sprawling water at her.
"What the...?" She cursed under her breath. And I laughed, doing it again and again. "Stop it, Luke. Or I'll kill you". She yells, trying to swim back to me but I won't let her. I grab her leg with mine. And I can't stop laughing at her struggle to let herself free. It seems like she'll going to cry. So I set her free.
"Is something wrong?" I tease, still smiling.
"You are a jerk," she said, anger growing in her eyes. I smiled, watching her as she drag herself off the ocean, her clothes plastered to her body and water running down every inch of available skin. Her shorts are melted to her body. My heart skips a beat.
I follow her.
She fists her hair, bringing it over her shoulder and ringing it out, she caught me staring, "What?"
I shake my head, "Nothing" and I inch forward, dropping my voice as I speak to her, "You are grown up a lot".
She froze, eyes widened. A flush appeared on her face. I smirk.
I don't wait for an answer as I spin around, heading for the parking. My thought broke when I heard my name, someone is calling me. I concentrate on the voice. It's her.
"Luke?" She calls again. But I didn't just show up whenever she want. She's the one who wants me to go. So I hide behind this big massive tree. This must be hundred years old or more. A smile plays on my lips. I love teasing her.
"Has he already left?" She whispered under her breath, her eyes still searching me in every possible corner. I grin, amused somehow.
Lowering her head, she covered her face with her hands, as she sighed loudly, "Why did you leave?" she muttered. A spasm of disappointment hit me hard in the chest. And my smile washes off. She's not okay. A feeling of unease skittered up my spine.
I hurried to her, managing myself "Missing me?" I said in a teasing tone as I approached. I can't show her how worried I am right now because it will only causes her more stress.
She jerks her head in surprise, the tension left her body, and some relief flooded her system. And I hadn't gotten a chance to say more as she rush and before I realised, her arms is around my neck as if she'll never let me go. My heart is racing, and I can hear them. A flush of adrenaline tingled through my body.
"Where have you been?" She cried, tightening her grip around me, "I thought you left me too. I was so scared".
I pull her closer, "Hey, it's okay. I'm here". Her fragrance fills my heart. She had never been this close to me. My heart pounding so hard it hurts. She feels good in my arms. And I can hold her like this for the rest of my life. I swallow, "I'm not that stupid to leave you alone, Alice Stewart," I told her. My heart feels like it will explode. Damn, she always increases my pulse.
And something happens, and she quickly pulls back, leaving space between us. And I hate this.
"I'm sorry" she stated without even looking at me. Is she embarrassed?
I dig my hand into my pocket, "Don't be" I answered back. I'm not going to apologize. Because I'm not.
She glanced up, "She told me that if I'm unable to control whatever power I have then".
I cut her off, "It will consume you".
"How do you know that?" She questioned.
"I heard her talking to someone".
She holds my eyes, unmoving except for the rise and fall of her chest, "What happened then?".
I answered, "I don't know". I lean closer "But don't worry you'll get through this. I believe you".
Her eyes sting with tears "What if I don't" she state as tears start falling down her cheeks. "Will I die then?".
I grab her face, "No. Of course not". I wipe off her tears, "And stop crying. You are stronger than you think".
