Alice
It's a miracle this arrogant, ruthless demon can look so sweet and innocent in his sleep. We, I and Edwin brought Dorian back to the cottage.
Sun is bright outside. No sign of rain. Edwin left early in the morning to arrange something for us to eat.
He's been through a lot and no one can imagine the pain that he bearings alone from all this time.
I lightly stroke my hand through his hair and tears sting my eyes. I wish I could ease his pain.
He blinks sleepily up at me. His eyelids are heavy, "Am I dreaming?" he mumbled.I smile, "I wish". I hope this was all a dream. A nightmare that ends when he wakes up.
He blinked, "Where am I?". He looked around, suddenly alarmed. It's like something triggered inside his brain or he remembered that he shouldn't be here. He quickly gets off the floor.
Angrily he rushed towards the doorway. Wait. Is he leaving?
I run, grabbing his hand, "You can't leave" I say. Hoping, he might listen to me. But I think it's not that easy.
His features tightened, squeezing his eyes shut, "I can't be here" he growled without glancing at me.
I know what is he thinking right now. He thought he will harm us if he stay closer to us. I lean closer, "You can fight this, Dorian".
He opens his eyes and finally meets mine. His tired eyes told me everything and my heart clenched. I can feel his longing heart. But he didn't speak, just glaring in silence. He clasped his hands so tightly that his knuckles turn white.
An unsettling feeling of panic welled inside me. I can't let him go there again.
He jerks off my hand and starts sprinting again.
I block his way, "I think you don't hear me." I say, raising my chin "You are not leaving. Get that?" My stomach felt queasy and my hands wouldn't stop shaking. I know he's beyond angry right now. But now it's my time to risk my life over him.
My eyes narrow and my hands shake as I take a menacing step closer to him, "Kill me or stay". The way he's glaring at me shows how frustrated and mad he is at me right now.
"Dorian...please" I plead.A muscle flexes in his jaw. He exhales slowly through his nose. He grinds his back teeth for a while because it's his thing, then he straightens and gazes down at me like I'm a turd on the bottom of his shoe, "Move".
I shake my head in denial.
"I said, move" he yell louder than before.
"No" my voice is a little shaky but I hold my guts. I need to be strong. There is no place to get scared.
Then he stands there with his eyes closed, every muscle in his body tensed. His hand is gripped so hard around the door handle, his knuckles are white. When he finally opens his eyes and looks down at me, his eyes aren't blue anymore.
They're black.
I swallow to wet my dry throat, "Dorian, listen to me. This is all in your brain. You can stop this".
But he doesn't seem in the mood for my motivational speech, so I wait.
His eyes are fierce, his jaw like stone, "I'm warning you for the last time. Get away or I'll forget who you are".
"I'm not scared of you," I challenge him.
It's like my words trigger his inner rage. He immediately grasps me by the throat but somewhat resists the urge to squeeze them harder. I can feel it.
"Then let me show you the real me" he growls.
"Why don't you tighten your hold a little?" I purred. "You know you want to". I was holding his patience by a thread.
"I'm not here to play games." he fires back as he tightens his grip around my neck "Let me leave, or your life will be over".
"You don't have that kind of power". "Don't underestimate me, sweetheart." Dorian's lips compressed into a thin line, "You think you have control over me?" he sneered. "Then you got the wrong idea".
I'm suffocating right now, unable to breathe properly as he continues pressing my windpipe. But I still believe that he will not kill me. "I know... part of you... still remember me" I choked. His grip tightened again, and his lips curled into a sneer. I saw the resulting flare of desire in his eyes. "Pray to God that you'll get long life or Tylor will be heartbroken," he said softly. "Do not contact or come near me ever again".
He pressed his thumb into the soft flesh of my neck-not enough to injure, but enough to make me flinch, "Understand?"
"Yes" I choked out, resentment coating my voice.
"Good" he released me and walked away.
What does he mean by that? Tylor will be heartbroken. Wait. Did he... Did he know about us?
"When did you find out?" I called after him.
He stop but didn't turn. His back is on me, "Not so long" he said, sullen.
"Dorian... I... We..."
He cut me off, "You don't need to explain. Because I don't want to hear that". Finally, he pivoted his head a little, "Don't ever come in front of me or I will kill you both" he said and storm outside through the door.
