Rory
Bodies littered the ground. Rick and them showed up just at the right time. If they didn't, we'd all be dead. I held my hands to my mouth and looked at the smoke from the rising fire.
I left Andrea about an hour ago, to give her some time alone. I'm surprised she let me go, the first time I tried she held on to me.
I watched as the men finished off all the people who got attacked last night. I sigh and run a hand through my hair.
Carol sat off to the side with Sofia, Ed got a bit last night. It looks like he got the worst of it. I place a hand on my stomach as the sight got to me. I look down, trying to calm my stomach.
"No! Our people go over there!" I look over to see Glenn yelling at Daryl, who was trying to burn one of our camp members.
Daryl mumbled things under his breath before doing what Glenn said. I close my eyes, trying to block everything out.
"he's bit! Jim got bit!" I let out a shaky breath as my body started to shake. I was so overwhelmed. Everything was going to shit.
"No! No! No!" Jim held a shovel to everyone. I looked away from the scene. I blinked back tears.
"I'll take care of him." I heard Daryl say before I heard more struggling.
"We don't kill the living!" Ricks voice rings through my mind. I rub my temples, trying to get rid of the headache that was coming on.
I stood from my spot and walked down to the pond. Sitting there I watched as the crystal water rippled from the little rocks I throw in. I had no clue how long I'd been sitting there. Could have been minutes, could have been hours.
But when I was called back up to camp, my nerves finally settled a bit. Now I watched as Andrea pull her sister's body into a grave. My body hurt each time I looked at Amy.
Such a beautiful, kind person. She didn't deserve this. Ed...yeah, I don't feel bad for him. But I do for Carol and Sofia. Andrea, my heart hurt for her. If I was taking this bad, I couldn't imagine what she felt like.
After we buried them, we all made our way back to the camp to decide what to do.
"I'm telling you Rick, Fort Benning, our best bet." Shane shrugs.
"The CDC is closer, we can get Jim there, get him help." Rick argued
"Lori..." Shane looked to Lori and she shook her head.
"Don't bring me into this, I stand by Rick, you know this." She scooted closer to him and Shane sighed.
"Fine, we go to the CDC." He waved his hand in annoyance. I let out a sigh before walking away. All they do is argue and it's tiring.
I sat at the picnic table and a breeze went through. The trees rattled and the cans we put up shook. So much for them working.
"How you feeling?" I look up as Rick walks up to me. "That was a dumb question."
"Yeah, it was." I agree with him. He wasn't here for much of mine and Amys friendship, but he could tell how much I cared for her.
"She was just a really good person, and didn't deserve this." I shake my head and blink away tears.
"I'm sorry." He place his hand on top of mine. "We gotta go soon, Rory." He says and I nod.
"I'll pack my things." I stand up from the table and walk to my tent. I heard him sigh before walking away. I pack my clothes into my suitcase, along with the shoe box full pictures. I had a smaller bag so I shoved the rest of my stuff in there. like my shampoo, conditioner, lotion, perfume, and everything else I haven't really used since before the outbreak.
I shove some clothes in there, some things that didn't fit because of the pictures. I set my stuff to the side before I start to take the tent down. I take it to the car before going back for my bags. I also put those in the back, I strap my knives to my thigh and keep my bow and arrows at my side.
"Haven't seen you with those in a while." Rick looks me up and down, noticing the weapons I have now.
"Shane had them for a while, finally gave them back. I never really had a reason to use them. Probably rusty."
"We'll work on them, you gotta learn how to protect yourself nowadays, with the walkers and everything." He says and I nod in agreement.
"Come on, we should get going." He placed a hand on my lower back, leading me to the car. I sit behind Lori. Carl sat in the middle and on the other side was Carol and Sofia.
"To the CDC we go!" I looked out the window as we left, watching as everyone followed us. The CDC was only 25 miles away from us.
But the RV broke down and Jim wanted to be left behind. I stayed in the car, I didn't want to say goodbye to more people right now. When we got to the cdc the sun was starting to set. I gripped Carls hand as we made our way up to the front. My stomach churns as the smell of the dead bodies hit my nose.
"You lead us into a grave yard!" Daryl yells, going for Rick but Shane stops him.
"He made a call!"
"Well it was a sucky ass call!" The two continued to bicker and the sound was attacking more walkers.
"Can you two please shut the fuck up!" I whisper yell. "You're scaring the kids and attracting more walkers." I hiss.
"Stay out of this Rory!"
"Yeah girl, I don't need your input!"
"Don't' talk to her that way!"
"Guys, seriously. Acting like children. Make yourselves useful and try to get my brother away from the fucking door." I glance to where Rick was at, now he was banging on the shutters. I sigh and rub my forehead.
"I'm gonna take the kids back to the RV," I look around seeing that more walkers were showing up but if we ran we would be able to make it.
I start to walk away, Carl and Sofia following behind me. Soon other people start to follow when the doors start to open. I gasp and watch as the bright light floods outside. Sofia grips on side of my shirt while Carl grips the other.
"Go! Go! Daryl you cover the back." I quickly usher the kids to run to the building. I let out a sigh as the doors close behind me.
"Hello?" Rick calls out.
"What do you want!"
