Rory
"Where have you been!?" Rick instantly questioned us as we walked into the house. The warm made my nose run a little.
"We were walking around, my fault. Sorry." I frowned a little at him, I took my jacket off, along with the other clothes I piled on, leaving my sweats and shirt. I kicked off my shoes and made my way over to the playpen that held Elowen and Everest.
"Hi babies, mama's back." I picked them up before going over to the bed and sitting with them.
"When was the last time they ate?"
"About and hour and half ago." Carol answered me and I nodded. I lean back against the wall, them on my chest. I pull the blanket over us and let them sleep on me.
"Here." Daryl came over with a can of mandarin oranges.
"Thank you." I stab my fork into a piece and eat it. I fucking love mandarin oranges.
"Alright, I think we need to have a discussion." Rick walked into the room, Lori behind him.
"We're running low on food, and there are only a few places that we haven't checked out yet. Tomorrow, at first light, some of us are going to go on a run, check out the rest of the town, find some gas, then I think we should get on the road." I nodded along in agreement.
"But, we can't go just yet! Evie and Ellie aren't ready for the cold!" Carol argues.
"I'm not saying we have to leave tomorrow. But we should head out sometime soon. I'm gonna try to find something that can hold the twins. We have plenty of blankets, they will be warm." he placed his hands on his hips.
"Who's all going tomorrow?" Lori asks, looking around the room.
"Me, Daryl, T-dog, Maggie and Glenn."
"And me." I say from my corner. He looks at me. "Not asking, telling." I shake my head.
"Of course you are," he sighs. "You stay with Daryl the whole time. I will be with T-dog, then obviously, Maggie with Glenn."
"Sounds like a plan." Daryl nodded his head. I place my now empty can across Daryl and on the floor.
"Can I hold a baby?"
"Which one?"
"It don't matter." I held out the one closest to him, which was Everest. He took her from me and cradled her close to his chest.
"Look at you, look just like your mama." He cooed and smiled at her. He looked really cute right now. He looked cute in general, but right now, he looked hella cute.
"Why are they black?" I look up at Carl.
"Carl Maverick Grimes! You know better!" Lori exclaims. I look to Daryl then back to the twins. I watch as Lori grips his upper arms and takes him from the room.
"I just wanna know!" Carl screams. I sigh and look down.
"Hey, you alright?" I nod, blinking away the tears that formed.
"Just peachy." I give him a fake smile. I knew it was only a matter of time, before someone asked. They knew nothing about the father, because I always changed the topic when they wanted to know.
"Rory," Rick walked into the room. I guess he left when I was paying attention to Daryl. "I am so so so sorry about Carl."
"Rick, it's fine. He's a kid. Kids ask questions. I'm fine, I promise." I give him a pleading look. He took notice and dropped the topic. I laid my head against the wall and let out a deep sigh.
