We all gathered at Sahesh's house. Although the five of us were alone in Sahesh's large room, the room was full of noise as everyone started talking loudly. However, I was filled with great anxiety.

'Miniru...' I regained consciousness and looked at Sahesh when he patted me on the back.

'Ah, why?' When I asked, he nodded towards the phone in my hand.

'Why are you turning it around like a frying omelet? Guys are talking about watching a movie. Come on let's go.' He shook the drinking glass in his hand.

I nodded. 'I guess I'm not able to watch a movie right now. Nangi is home alone. I'm afraid that she will have another panic attack...'

Sahesh sighed and sat next to me. Even when he was sitting next to me I got goosebumps. How can I tell him that I have been willing him for years?

'If you always look after your sister, you won't even have a girl to marry, Miniru.' Sahesh's words are like breaking my heart.

'I don't want a girl. I value my sister.' I said, glancing at the drinking glass in Sahesh's hand.

'You have me no matter what.' He patted my shoulder.

I smiled awkwardly. Even after knowing my true situation, I had a problem whether he would be with me. I didn't say anything. Sahesh swirled the glass of mango in his hand and went back to his bed to join the other three of us and watch the movie.

I stared back at the blank screen of the phone in my hand. At one point it lit up and blew my mind. I answered it with a trembling hand as the phone number in my sister's hand appeared on the screen.

'Sister...'

I can barely hear her snoring. 'Bro... ther...come...home...quickly!'

'Mehansa? a panic attack?' I called the call but there was no answer from her. The phone is filled with only rapid sighs and breaks.

'Wait, I'm coming... hold on... take the inhaler.' My voice stopped as she let out a single moan.

'Mehansa!' I called the phone again but it was disconnected once. I saw Sahesh looking back at me from time to time.

'Sahesh...' I went near him and called him. 'I am going home Sahesh. It's hard for my sister. Even though father is there, he doesn't understand how to take care of my sister.'

Sahesh gave me a suspicious look. 'You never spent the night with us, Miniru. And it doesn't matter. We will be able to do that one day.'

I smiled awkwardly and patted his shoulder. 'Sorry bro. But it's urgent.'

I immediately ran from there and called a taxi on the phone and waited impatiently for it to arrive. Even though it was almost midnight, it was a taxi we knew, so it came to pick me up promptly.

'Sir, where are you going in this night...' asked the driver as we cut through the night wind.

'I came to a friend's house. But sister just had panic... she had some hard time with breathing. My sister called me where father is not at home. That's why it's urgent.' I told him as simply as I could because I was not in the right frame of mind to have a conversation about it.

'Got it sir...' the driver increased the speed of the car and brought me to the house like a god from the wind.

I took out five hundred rupees from my wallet and put it in his hand. 'Keep that.'

Not letting him say anything else, I ran into the house by the big iron gate to find my sister's room.

When I left, her entire room was a mess. She was sighing rapidly and my father's girdle was lying on the floor beside her. I realized that she had been assaulted again, but this time what mattered to me was her breathing. I took the small ventilator from her bedside drawer and plugged it in.
