My first month at Shanalka's house went well and I also started going to school with him. Some days Yeheni and I would come home from school when Shanalka stayed at school in the afternoon. Some days she would not go home but would wander around books with me in bookstores saying that there is no point in going home till ayya comes.

Although Sahesh gradually changed his rude behavior and exchanged a word or two with me from time to time, I did not think anything more about it because I no longer had any interest in him. About a week into the school holidays, I was lying in bed in Shanalka's room, working on some math problems in a book. Pythagorean math gave me a headache and I got up from bed to go to Yeheni's room to ask her for two painkiller pills.

When I left, the door of her room was half open and Yeheni was standing by the edge of the bed. I could barely see her mother standing in front of her. I was shocked to see that her mother's hand came fast and sapped Yeheni's cheek. It was not something I ever expected. I decided to leave the place, but the next scene I saw made my whole being tingle. I stood there frozen, not knowing what to do.

As soon as I saw her mother about to leave the room, I immediately ran into a nearby room, thinking of the embarrassment she would cause if she saw me. After a while she disappeared from there, I took a deep breath and knocked on the door of Yeheni's room.

'nangi...' I called her, putting the second floor as well.

Yeheni opened the door with a smile as if nothing happened to her just a moment ago. 'Why?'

I stared blankly at her. 'Nangi...'

Yeheni awkwardly tapped the door with her fingers. 'Mmm?'

'Can you... give me... two Panadols?' I finally asked.

She nodded and went into the room. 'Come in.'

I gulped and stepped into her room. 'About the thing just happened?'

Yeheni put the medicine bag in her hand on the table and turned to me awkwardly. 'What are you talking about?'

I watched her helplessly without saying anything. Her face gave me the image of Mehansa because of the same kind of helplessness in her eyes.

'Did you see?' she asked.

I looked down.

Yeheni sat on the floor next to the bed. 'Sit...'

I also went and sat next to her on the floor. Yeheni took a long breath. 'Don't think about it... you don't dare to tell this about ayya.'

'He doesn't know?' I asked because I had nothing to say.

'He knows. He doesn't want to know that it happened today again.' As she said with a smile, I looked at her wondering how she managed to smile even in such a situation.

'Not the first one.' She confirmed again.

I bit my lower lip and looked down because I had nothing to say. Yeheni took a long sigh and rested her head on my shoulder.

A few seconds later I was startled when I felt her sniffing my neck. 'Yeheni?' I asked in shock as she started to sniff like a cat.

'When did my ayya start resting his head on your shoulder?' she asked with narrowed eyes.

I blushed and looked down.

Yeheni lifted my chin with two fingers and touched my lips with her thumb. 'Did you two kiss?'

'Nangi!' I slapped her hand away in shame.

Shanalka and I had been in a relationship for a few weeks, but neither of us had the strength to talk about it openly. I was so embarrassed that Yeheni found out that in this way.

'Yayyyyyyyyyyyy! At last you are my brother-in-law then.' She shook her head. 'I suspected you were smelling like ayya's shampoo.'

'STOP..' I poked her with a finger.

Yeheni smiled and got up. 'Congratulations boys... happy for you.' She leaned forward. 'Who's Top? Who is Bottom?'

'nangi!!!'

'Just for fun...' she insisted in a nonchalant manner.

While I was sitting on the floor next to her bed, she got up and handed me the two Panadol tablets on the table. 'Didn't you come to take these?'

I shook my head and tried to get up, but then Shanalka entered Yeheni's room.

'I looked for you everywhere.' He said looking at me. 'Why this Panadol?'

Before I could say anything, Yeheni jumped into the middle. 'You kiss him too much and his head hurts.'

I could see Shanalka blushing as well as my cheeks. He looked at me as if to ask if I told Yeheni that.

I shook my head.

'He didn't say anything. I guessed it because he smelled like the shampoo you use. Plus he has little scars on his lips which match with your fangs!' Yeheni said while smirking, putting a smile on Shanalka's face.

'I was going to say after finishing A level.' Shanalka said looking at me.

Yeheni crumpled up a sheet of tissue on the table and threw it at Shanalka. 'Ya... are you telling me to wait for another three months?'

'Okay, but you know now...' Shanalka pursed her lips, picking up the tissue paper.

'Glad that I have a good sense.' Yeheni purred. 

I stood up. 'I'm going to take two Panadol and get some sleep.'

'I'll be back in about an hour. Let's do some math together.' I smiled and kissed his cheek as Shanalka said squeezing my shoulder.

'Aw aw...' Yeheni winked at me.

I stared at her for a while. 'Are you okay with this?' I asked after remembering that she had kissed me.

Yeheni smiled. 'I'm a lesbian...'

'Eh?' I asked surprised.

'That's a big story. We'll talk later.' She said scratching her head.

I nodded and left leaving ayya and nangi alone in their own worlds.
