One day when I woke up in the morning it was useless, I lay on the bed and looked at the two children sleeping in the crib. Yeheni was cooking in the kitchen while her mother was out looking for a supermarket. My eyes were focused on the two children who were sleeping peacefully. The two, who were about a month old, did not bother to cry for anything other than crying for milk.

A few hours later, Yeheni came into the room and handed me a cup of chocolate milk. I thanked her and took the cup to my lips and took a sip. Before the taste of milk could invade my throat, I heard someone knocking on our door. Yeheni greeted me with a troubled look under her eyes and left the room. I lazily watched her leave.

I heard Yeheni open the door but for the next five minutes, I did not hear anyone speak. I left the cup of milk on the drawer table and walked towards the front door of the house as my mind was tormented by something strange. Someone was standing by the door and Yeheni was sitting on the floor nearby.

'Yesh!' I walked up to her and turned her face towards me without wasting a moment to look at the person standing by the door. Yeheni covered her mouth with her hands and her cheeks were wet with her own tears.

'What did you do to my Yesh?' I raised my head and looked at the guest by the door while cursing.

Yeheni dropped from my hand in surprise and shock without realizing it.

'SHANALKA?'

I couldn't believe my eyes. Shanalka was standing in front of me. His face was full of exhaustion and his cheeks were more sunken than usual. But I could clearly tell that it was Shanalka.

Shanalka knelt on the ground and held both Yeheni and me in his arms. I nuzzled his neck to make sure it was my own Shanalka's scent. It was him. I felt the same scent on his neck that I felt three years ago.

'Yesh? Miruu?' I felt Yeheni's arms tighten around him as he gently pushed.

In the next moment, Yeheni started crying loudly. I watched as Shanalka kissed her neck with my still unrelieved shock.

'Oh, honey don't cry now.' He kissed Yeheni's head gently running his fingers through both of our hair.

'Is this really you?' I nuzzled into his neck again and again letting his scent invade my nose.

'Let's go inside. This will be a big story.' He helped us both to our feet.

He sat in the middle of the sofa and hugged us both on his sides. I kept crushing his shirt with my fingertips. Nothing else came to my mind and the only thing I wanted was the thought of holding Shanalka tightly and not letting him leave me again.

'The nurse who filled my info sheet has filled it with the other patient's name. That patient also came to the hospital from an accident. I was in a Kurunegala hospital on the other patient's information sheet. When I finally fully recovered, it was only when I saw the paper that was brought to ask me that I had been in the hospital for two and a half years under someone else's name. The sealed body of the other patient was handed over to you in my name that day. Because it was sealed, you couldn't even recognize it.'

As he told the story from his angle, Yeheni and I listened to him without interrupting. I still couldn't believe he was alive.

'Everything is fine now. Now I am here. We can start a new story again.' He kissed Yeheni's head and then kissed my forehead.

Yeheni got up from her chair after a while. 'I will go and make tea for ayya. You two should be alone for a while.'

Shanalka waited until Yeheni left and then lifted my chin and kissed me softly on the lips. I let the tears flow from my eyes. Shanalka touched my head with his hand and once again pressed my lips between his.

'Why... you haven't come so long?' I asked him when I couldn't think of anything else to ask. Shanalka was looking at me.

'I don't even know, Miruu. I haven't been sane for a long time. The last thing I remember was being hit on the head with a metal pole. After that, when I woke up, two and a half years had passed.'

I pressed my head to his chest. 'I thought you left me too. Like Mehansa, I thought that I will never see you again. I thought you left me alone too.'

Shanalka lifted my head in his hands and kissed my lips again. I put my arms around his neck and started biting his lips. I gripped his body tighter and tried to move the dryness of his lips from my wet lips

Yeheni came to us in a few minutes with a cup of tea in her hand. Shanalka relaxed my body a little and took the cup of tea with one hand and started drinking it.

'I wanted this taste. Yesh's cup of tea...' He looked at Yeheni and looked at me with the first sip. Yeheni clutched her own thigh and looked at me questioningly.

It took me a moment to understand that look. I had forgotten that we were married and had two children. Yeheni looked away again as I stared at her. Shanalka put the teacup on the table and cleared her throat as if she understood the difference between us.

'Ayya..' Yeheni began the story awkwardly. 'A lot happened.'

Shanalka grabbed my waist and pressed me against his body again. 'Tell me anything. Now the three of us are together.'

'Ayya, we got,' Yeheni opened her mouth but was not able to complete the sentences.

As if to complete her sentence, both Vihanya and Miresh started wailing and crying from the bedroom. Yeheni awkwardly got up and went to the bedroom while I was treated to a surprised look from Shanalka.

As Shanalka let go of my waist and followed Yeheni towards the room, I followed them. Yeheni was in the room holding Vihanya and Miresh was still crying in the crib. Yeheni could not breastfeed both children at the same time because she lost one breast when she was sixteen.

Shanalka said nothing and looked at Miresh in the cradle. His finger trailed gently over Miresh's face. Yeheni looked at me with tears in her eyes.

'These...babies...' Shanalka started looking at me and Yeheni alternately.

I felt my mouth go dry. I looked at Yeheni with awkward silence to explain all this to her.

'Ayya... here it is,' Yeheni began in a dry voice.

Shanalka completed the sentences without allowing her to complete the sentences. 'You two married and had children?'

Guilt filled my heart as I looked at him and nodded in approval.
