I think I should have bought that necklace. Lionel said pouting, while driving the car. Katherine couldnt be bothered to roll her eyes and was busy with her laptop.

The earrings are cute. She answered briefly before concentrating on her work again.

Lionel looked her over, admiring the grace and beauty she still held even though her body had been through hell. Even though he had been with her for a long time now, he still couldnt understand how she could look so innocent and dangerous at the same time.

Put your work aside for a day, will you? My family is yours too now. He said getting irritated. He was too concerned about the fact that they seem to be fighting too much these days and they arent even married yet.

I cant put my work aside Lionel. She answered shortly again, fixated on whatever she was doing. Lionel couldnt understand why she seemed to be unusually busy these days or to whom she was shouting orders through the phone. She wasnt smiling much; she had no time to go out on dates with him. She had no time to have a proper conversation with him. It didnt matter how long Lionel waited at night for her to come to bed, she always came home after he slept and left before he could wake up.

Lionel couldnt go on with this turmoil in his mind. He wanted answers from her and he knew that he cant wait any longer. He parked the car at the side of the road and snatched the laptop she was holding. Katherine was startled and irritated at the same time.

She breathed out slowly to calm down before talking to him. She had no intention of raising her voice against her man. Not yet anyway.

What is it, Lionel? she asked him calmly. He rolled his eyes at her question.

Wow he chuckled sarcastically. You still remember my name?! I thought you forgot since youre so busy with work these days he said in anger.

This one sentence was more than enough for Katherine to slit his throat before chopping up his body and discarding the pieces in a ditch. She knew that she had killed men for even less. Capos do not tolerate sarcasm. Nobody, not even their betas were allowed to talk to them in such a manner. But this wasnt any man. This was Lionel. He could tell her off even if he caught her taking somebodys life. Not that he had no fear. He just had no habit of thinking about the consequence before opening his mouth. Maybe it was because of those numb nuts he called friends who had the same habit.

Katherine took ten seconds to cool off before answering his question. I remember your name. Now give me my laptop. Im doing something important. She replied coolly.

Lionels eyes widened at this womans audacity. He knew that she wasnt stupid. She could tell he was upset. He knew that but she was supposed to console him. He was expecting a sweet talk from her. Because thats how their relationship had been before. She never let him be angry for more than a few minutes.

Unnecessary thoughts started storming Lionels mind. Was she not in love with him anymore? Is she attracted to some other guy? Lionel quickly shook those thoughts off his mind. He took in a sharp breath before replying her.

Are you seriously out of your fucking mind?! he asked her in disbelief. So, are you telling me that your stupid work is important than my sister? Its her birthday Kate! Atleast act like you fucking care even if you dont. He shouted, pouring all his frustrations on her.

If youre done screaming your head off, Id like my laptop back. And, you should hurry before we get late. She replied him with no emotions on her face. She knew that she should control her emotions. She can neither yell at him nor throw his body out of the running car. So, she just decided to let his tantrum slide.

Lionel almost felt like bawling his eyes out. But he was successful at controlling his tears. He didnt want to be too dramatic and cry in front of her. So, he quickly shoved the laptop to her outstretched hands and started driving. An uncomfortable silence settled in the car. He didnt know what he had done for Katherine to treat him so coldly. He neither knew what to do about the situation. He just prayed that his mother wouldnt notice the coldness between them. Lionels mother had a keen eye for noticing troubles between couples. He just didnt want his mother to worry about him.
