Lionel returned to his apartment pondering over the day's activities. His body ached as he slumped on his couch. His apartment was his den. It wasn't too huge but it wasn't small either. It was home, though he lived alone. Sometimes Drake crashed in the guest bedroom when he got too drunk. Lionel wondered how they became best friends. The boys were completely different in their personalities. While Lionel worked hard, stayed away from trouble, and supported his family, Drake partied with his friends and girls, acted irresponsible and turned into a huge headache to his father. He was snapped back into reality when his phone buzzed. He checked it and noticed a message from Katherine. She had sent him list of employees and asked him to send it to the HR to fire them for going behind her back and helping the rival company.
Lionel sighed deeply as he thought about her. He was not sure whether to believe the rumours regarding her or to completely ignore it and enjoy his work. He was certain of one thing though. He was insanely attracted to Katherine Xavier.

15 days later
Lionel had successfully completed 15 days in Xavier Corp as Ms. Xavier's assistant, according to his new friends in Xavier Corp. He had managed to befriend some nice people in 3rd floor. Mark, Nick, Cole, Sheila, and Britney were his new friends who decided to throw him a party for completing two weeks in the company. They even had a bet among themselves that Lionel wouldn't last a week. "Guy's, I don't really need a party and please stop betting on me. " He scowled at them. "Aww, look at his nose Cole, it's red. He's mad at us." Britney teased pissing him off further. "Britney! You're not helping. Now just get out of my office. I've got work to complete or else I'll be fired like others." Lionel snapped at them but everyone just ignored him and started ranting about how cute he looked when angry.
"But you're too adorable to ignore when you're angry Lio. Look at your face, you look like tomatoes, please let me just squeeze your cheeks once." Sheila said. She always tried to squeeze Lionels cheeks every chance she got even though he always got annoyed. It was just Sheilas way of flirting with him. "Sheila! Touch me again and I'll kick everyone out of my office... And I'm not attending that stupid party in that stupid club. Can't you guys see that I don't fit in the club." Lionel huffed. Clubs and parties were not really his thing. "No way bro, you are coming to the club or else we'll drag you to the club ourselves. "Mark smirked. "I'm looking forward to the dragging part." Cole grinned.
"You people have 10 seconds to get out of this floor or else you'll be dragging his ass to "Got fired from the job" party. "A sharp voice ordered them and everybody turned their heads towards the source of voice. Katherine stood at the doorway; arms crossed against her chest. Everybody rushed out of Lionel's office within seconds, careful not to bump into pissed off Katherine. Katherine almost wanted to break the arms of the woman that touched his cheek. Her ears turned red in anger and she clenched her jaw, refraining from hurting what's her face. She did not know who the employee was but made a mental note to learn her name later. Katherine was a beautiful woman but she could be extremely scary when she's angry. Nobody in their right mind would dare to mess with Katherine. Even if somebody tried and risked their luck with her, she'd destroy them in a blink of an eye.
Lionel started his work at five in the morning by bringing her coffee in her penthouse. Katherine was a heavy sleeper and was definitely not a morning person. Lionel had gotten used to her snapping at him quite harshly every time he woke her up. He had started to enjoy his morning interactions with her. It was tiring but also amusing to him. Carter had given him the passcode to her penthouse. Lionel liked the old man who gave off fatherly vibes. Carter had supported him in the past days when Katherine snapped at him for no reason. Another thing that Lionel learnt about Katherine was that she could swear like a sailor. Though annoyed at times, Lionel was glad that he got an opportunity to work for her.
"Are you done admiring my beauty? " She smirked and snapped him back to reality.
"I wasn't admiring your beauty MS. Xavier, I was just thinking how lucky I am to work under you. I've learned a lot within a span of fifteen days and I'm glad that I attended the interview for this position." He smiled. "Ouch, so you think I'm not really beautiful. That's the biggest insult I've ever heard of Mr. Lawson." She faked being hurt and smirked at him. Though Katherine gave him a hard time at work, she made sure to flirt subtly sometimes.
"And now I regret everything I said. Why do you divert our conversation from official to being flirty, Ms. Xavier? " He asked her with a frown, even after she smirked. He wanted to show her that he was serious this time. Lionel knew that she was a player. Flirting was just a game to her, but it wasn't the case for him. He couldn't stop his heart from fluttering every time she was flirty with him. He was afraid that he would fall for her and get hurt in the process. "Stop nagging me Lionel and I've told you to call me by my first name when nobody's around. But you somehow still feel uncomfortable. But answer me honestly, do you not like it when I flirt? "She questioned with a sly smile on her lips.
He wanted to admit that he loved it when she flirted. But he didn't want to feed her already huge ego. But the downside of saying 'no' is that he was fully aware it's a lie and he was very bad at lying. He realised that he was liking the interaction between them too much and he was scared. He knew that his love for her was forbidden. They were like opposite sides of a coin that aren't meant to face each other. He could never be a perfect man for her.
With great hesitation he replied, "Umm...no Ms. Xavier. " Katherine realised that he was lying. She locked the door to his office and raised an eyebrow, smirking at his pathetic attempt at lying. She took a step towards him and the room suddenly started feeling hotter to Lionel. He was so lost in her chocolate brown eyes, that he didn't realise she had come too closer to where he was standing. "So, you really don't like me like that?" She asked him, with a deep voice that sent shivers of pleasure down his spine. He tried to come up with an answer but all he did was mumble like an idiot.
She held his chin between her fingers and dragged his face down to her level. "Tell me to back off and I will." She said kissing him hard. The kiss was so intense that Lionel found himself liking it. He loved how she made him feel like he had a chance to back off but in reality, he didn't. She was a woman who knew what she wanted and didn't stop until she got it. It made her even more attractive in his eyes.
Lionel had made his decision. He didn't care if she didn't love him. He was ready to trust her and blindly fall into her hands. He was ready to give himself to her even if it meant getting hurt in the process. Katherine Xavier was fire and Lionel Lawson was a moth who willingly decided to get burnt.
He pulled her by her small waist, her body hit his chest and she looked small against him. She broke the kiss and looked up at him in shock, and amusement. Lionel cupped her chin with his left hand, holding her waist with his right hand and kissed her soft lips. And just like that Katherine Xavier was his first kiss. He pulled away when he did not get a response from her. A small, evil smirk formed on her lips. "Did I say you could touch me?" She asked him sternly and he gulped, feeling hot at the authority in her voice. His stomach felt like a zoo that had animals running all around freely. "No ma'am." He whispered shyly, looking down in embarrassment. Katherine hated it when she couldn't look into his eyes. "Look at me when I'm talking to you." She ordered and he immediately lifted his eyes to meet hers. She was pleased with his reaction. "And what do you say when you do something wrong?" She asked him as she pulled him towards her by his tie. Lionel was surprised by how good that action felt. "I'm sorry." He whispered. "What did you say?" she asked him, even though she heard him loud and clear. "I'm sorry ma'am." Lionel spoke clearly. She smirked at him, pleased. She hadn't realised how perfect he was until that moment. "Good boy." She praised and left his office coolly, unbothered by their interaction while leaving him feeling all hot and bothered.
Lionel placed a hand on his chest trying to calm his rapidly beating heart. "What the fuck just happened?!" He questioned, trying to collect himself.
