season 4, episode 4; metamorphosis
I knew this was coming eventually, but the show enjoys not including time settings, so I didn't know exactly when this was going to happen. Yet, when I woke up, Dean was sitting on the bed with a look of pure shock and admiration, then I knew he must've just come back from 1973. But even with mentally preparing myself for the finding Sam and the punching and arguing, how well was mentally preparing myself going to help?
Now, here we were, me being forced out of bed and sadly going to Sam and Ruby where they held the demon for more information on Lilith. "Dean, why exactly am I here?" I asked, desperately pulling my hood on with the pouring rain outside.
"You're my best friend and best friends provide moral support." I can tell Dean was being sassy with me since he completely disregarded the actual answer and I knew what was happening inside the abandoned building, but it wasn't like I was going to tell him that Sam was in denial about being a demon blood druggie and Ruby was abusing that power, so I asked again.
"Dean. Why did I have to come?"
"Shh, they're in there," He whispered. I threw my head back in annoyance, a groan escaping, and proceeded to walk behind him into the building. I yawned, pulled my hood down, and walked slowly and quietly behind Dean.
We stopped when we got behind a wall of shelves with a fence behind it, enough view of Sam's back and the demon in the chair with Ruby standing beside them. "Because you're Sam Winchester, Mr. Big Hero?" The demon asked loudly. Dean and I watched the scene unfold and I gulped, playing with the strings of my sweats aimlessly. The demon grinned mockingly, "And yet here you are, slutting around with some demon." I sensed Dean tense beside me as he locked his jaw. "Real hero."
"Shut your mouth," Sam ordered. Sam's words weren't effective to the demon, but to me they were. He sounded so angry, so determined. It was nothing like the way that he talked when he was around me and Dean. It was quite terrifying how different he sounded while he thought he was alone with just Ruby and this demon.
"Tell me about those months without your brother... about all the things you and this demon bitch do in the dark." Sam's fists tightened, making his knuckles turn white in the light the moon gave. "Huh? Tell me, Hero."
Sam only looked at the demon for a second, please don't do it. Sam raised his arm and the demon began to gag. I closed my eyes, repressing a sigh, and looked down in disappointment. When I looked back up, the demon was gagging up black smoke and the smoke coming out would build up and circle the poor man in the chair. When the demon was removed from the man, the man passed out and the demon disappeared into the ground.
I looked over at Dean. He was staring at the scene before he looked at me. "Did you know?" He whispered.
I shook my head, "No." I felt my ears heat up and was thankful that my hair was down.
I looked back at Sam and watched as he went to the man and knelt down, checking his pulse on his neck. He chuckled, looking up at Ruby. "How'd that feel?" Ruby asked.
I felt anger beginning to boil when she spoke. I wanted to shove her up against the wall and threaten her life.
"Good," Sam replied, beginning to untie the man. "No more headaches." That's not a good sign.
"None? That's good," Ruby said proudly. Almost as if she cares.
"C'mon," Dean told me, pulling me with him by the sweater.
"No, no, I don't wanna —" It was too late because Dean and I were already in plain sight. Sam stopped, still holding up the man, and stared at Dean and me.
