season 4, episode 6; yellow fever

Containing my excitement at the fact that we were now officially in Yellow Fever, we went inside the morgue to see Frank O'Brien's body. I looked forward to this episode for a few reasons and the main one was for Dean's rant.

"Agent Tyler, Agent Perry, Agent Reid, meet Frank O'Brien." The doctor unzipped the black body bag, revealing the corpse.

"He died of a heart attack, right?" Sam asked the doctor.

The doc nodded, "Three days ago," He confirmed.

"But — But O'Brien was forty-four," I chirped, opening the tan folder to read his file. "And it says he was a marathon runner."

The doctor shrugged, "Everybody drops dead sooner or later. It's why I got job security."

"Yeah, but Frank kicked it here," Dean said. "Now just yesterday, two perfectly healthy men bit it in Maumee. All heart attacks. You don't think that's strange?"

"Well, it sounds like Maumee's problem to me. Why's the FBI give a damn anyway?" The doctor furrowed his eyebrows.

"We'd just like to see the results of Frank's autopsy," Dean replied.

The doctor stayed quiet for a beat and then spoke again. "What autopsy?"

It was our turn to remain quiet. "The one you're gonna do," Dean smiled.

When we got the body prepared and the gear on, the doctor ran the knife down Frank's abdomen and sliced it open. "First dead body?" The doctor asked us.

Dean replied: "Far from it." and we remained silent.

"Oh, good." The doctor stuck his covered hand into Frank and continued what he was saying. "Because these suckers can get pretty ripe. Hey, uh, hand me those rib-cutters, would you?" Dean passed him the tool and loud snapping rang through the room as the bones were cut.

I looked down with a cringe at the sudden change of sound and looked twice at the hand. With my gloved one, I touched the ring finger and the noticeable gap where a ring would be. "Wedding ring?" I questioned myself softly. "Frank was married?" I asked a bit louder to get the attention of Sam and Dean.

"Ain't my department," The doctor says, continuing to look through Frank's insides.

Sam picked up the wrist, noticing the deep cuts on Frank's wrist. "Any idea how he got these?" He asked.

"You know what? When you drop-dead, you actually tend to drop. Body probably got scraped up when it hit the ground... huh."

"What?" Sam asks.

"I-I can't find any blockages in any of the major arteries." He grunted and there was another loud snap and he was suddenly holding up the man's heart. My nose wrinkled immediately. "Heart looks pretty damn healthy, hold that a second, would you?" The heart is handed to Dean and as Sam and I go to laugh at Dean, another squish makes a red liquid squirt at Sam and land on his face. I want to laugh at him but another squish and I feel warm liquid on the side of my face. "Oh, sorry. Spleen juice."

"Dammit, Frank," I mumble, getting passed a couple of rags.

Once we left with what we were told, I began to laugh. "What?" Sam grumbles.

"Spleen juice." I began to laugh again, causing Dean to grin and Sam to hide his smile.

"You got hit too."

"It was funnier when it hit you, though."

"You're supposed to be an adult, Sofia," He says, finally giving up and smiling.
