season 4, episode 17; it's a terrible life

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I groaned as I rolled over in my bed and hit the snooze button. Almost as if it was destined, it went off again. "Ugh!" I exclaimed, hitting the alarm harshly. I sat up in my bed unwillingly and had a feeling of wanting to fall back in my bed and just pass out again. My conscious convinced me otherwise.

I threw the comforter off my legs and felt a chill of cold air hit my bare legs. I swung my legs off the soft mattress and stood up, stretching in the process. I slumped over to the window and pulled open the curtains. I regretted that decision the minute I did it. I winced at the light that peeked in through the blinds and covered my eyes.

I rubbed the sleep away from them and waddled over to my adjoined bathroom. I turned on the water of the shower and allowed the water to warm up. I leaned against the sink tiredly and looked at my reflection. You could see the tiredness look back at me. I scrunched my nose at the rat's nest my hair had become. "Jesus Christ..."

As per usual for the past three weeks, my sleep schedule had gotten worse before better. I'd try to sleep at an acceptable hour, only to be awaken multiple times a night by nightmares with a certain version of myself with different versions of my family. My "mother" portrayed by someone completely opposite, my eldest sister never accepting me into her life with my other older sister was the only caregiver other than my father who was apparently a hunter. A hunter of what?

It was all completely odd and confusing because apparently it was only me and my sisters. Which is far from correct. My entire family lives in the comfort of Albuquerque with my sisters doing their own thing and me being the only one who's moved completely out of state. Again. Odd.

After I'd showered and gotten dressed into my simple blouse and skinny jeans that looked more like slacks, I blow dried my hair and put a frizz oil to keep the blowout under control. I did my ten step makeup routine and brushed my teeth once I was done with my physical appearance. I left the bathroom, got my final pieces to my outfit (blazer, flats, jewelry, etc.), and left my bedroom into the kitchen of the condo. I had to be quick to make my coffee.

I didn't have time to make myself a breakfast, so I just settled on a protein bar and ran around my kitchen in search of something to get for lunch. I settled on nothing and that I would simply get something from a fast food place near work. Once I got my coffee, I got my bag and keys and jogged out of the apartment. I was running ten minutes late.

By the time I got to work, I was already a whopping 20 minutes late with a burnt hand from when the car in front of me came to a very sudden stop and I had to hit my brakes and spilled coffee on my hand and lap. Luckily, none got on my shirt, but the wet spot on my thigh makes it look like I peed in the wrong direction.

When I got onto my designated floor, I sighed in defeat when the one and only seemed to be waiting for me. "Mr. Adler," I greeted.

"Late again, Sofia," he stated, walking beside me towards my office.

"I know, I'm sorry."

"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to. This is your last warning," he finished as we reached my door.

"Understood, sir."

"Good, get going."

When the bald man turned to walk away, I rolled my eyes and turned towards my door. SOFIA MARTINEZ. ASSISTANT TO DIRECTOR, SALES & MARKETING.

I was quick to drop my bag on my desk and coffee beside it. I walked around my desk and turn on the desktop to let it start up as I got settled. I tossed my bag into its designated cabinet along with my keys and plopped on the chair. I typed in the password to the computer and looked through the papers left on my desk to edit and file.
