epilogue
I zipped up the last bag and heard Jenna sigh. "I can't believe anything that you told me," she says. As if she hadn't been saying it for the past 24 hours.
"And I'll tell you again, you had the real life Castiel tell you, Jen."
Jenna leans her body against the doorway. "Yeah, but still, it's just hard to swallow."
I nodded and looked at her. "Yeah, I know."
After stopping Lilith, we put her in Bobby's panic room (how we managed to get her in there shocks me, but we made it happen) after detoxing Sam of the last amount of demon blood he had, and left her in there until we found something to keep her in so she couldn't possess anyone anymore. I suggested a "demon box" as I liked to call it, and while it was a good idea, actually finding one was the hard part.
"You can still come with me, Jen."
Jenna smiled at me and stepped more into my room. "I know I can, but my life is here. You already created one over there, I can't just drop everything in this one and go to a different universe."
It was my turn to smile at her. "If you're sure."
"I am," she said and put her hands on my shoulders. "Just promise to visit. I know Cas is making your phone be able to call me, but a visit is much better that just a call when you're hunting monsters."
I grinned and wrapped my arms around my sister's waist. "I'll miss you, Jen."
She wrapped her arms around my shoulders and hugged me close to her. "I'll miss you too, Sofi."
"And I promise I'll visit. I'll bring the boys too, if you want."
To that, Jenna pulled me from her and held me at arm's length. "Are you serious?"
I giggled and nodded. "If you want, yeah."
She started to laugh happily and hugged me again.
There was a flutter and we suddenly heard Castiel's deep voice call to me.
"Sofia, are you ready?" He asked awkwardly. I pulled away from my sister as she looked behind her at Cas in amazement.
"I'll never get used to that," she breathed.
"One day you will," I replied and picked up my bags. "I'm ready, Cas." He nodded and I turned back at Jenna again. "Thank you for helping Dad raise me, Jen. I realize that I never gave you that much appreciation for it."
Her eyes started to water. "Your "Happy Mother's Day" card from when you were in elementary school is the first thing I look at when I wake up every morning."
I laughed and hugged her one last time.
This time when we separated, I walked toward Castiel and stood in front of him with my backpack on my back and my duffle with my absolute necessities in my hand. "I'm ready."
Castiel placed two fingers on my forehead and the familiar sensation of being pulled by my belly button and a blinding white light consumed me. Next thing I knew, we were both standing in Bobby's study. "Ah, you're back," Dean said as he saw me zap in. "Was starting to miss you, Kid."
I scoffed at the man and switched the duffle to my other hand. "I wasn't gone for that long."
"If I may," Sam interrupted, swooping in and stealing my bag, "you were gone a whole twenty four hours."
"Okay, sorry, mister, but I needed one last night in my bed alone before this giant bigfoot throws me off the bed every night," I defended, reaching up to try and grab the bag that he kept lifting over his head.
"In my defense—" Sam tried to say.
"You don't have one. She's completely correct," Dean laughed.
Sam looked utterly offended.
"Dean!" Sam cried.
"Haha!" I laughed, grabbing my bag while Sam was distracted and walking away.
"Hey, I expect to sleep a full four hours every night, you hear?!" Bobby called as I started up the stairs with Sam following me.
"Yes, Bobby, you will get your four hours," I called back.
"At least two is promised, though!" Sam said.
"Sam!" I scolded. I can hear Dean's laughter bounce around the walls with Bobby shouting a curse at us.
Once me and Sam got to the main guest bedroom where we'd basically be living while we were off of hunts. Sam closed the door as we entered. I shook my head with a grin and placed my bags on the bed. "Don't expect any funny business, Winchester. I'm only getting settled right now."
Sam threw his head back and groaned a little bit. "Ah... not even time for a little bit?" I squealed when Sam pinched my sides.
"Cut it out!" I laughed.
Sam laughed with me and sighed happily. I wrapped my arms around his torso while his remained around my arms and hands connecting at the small of my back. "You're sure you want to stay here, Sof?" He asked gently.
I smiled up at the man I was completely, utterly, and hopelessly in love with. "I've never been more sure," I replied.
"What are you gonna do now? Now that everything isn't going to go as planned anymore?" He asked me.
I shrugged, "I don't know. Not to be cheesy or anything, but I'm just gonna live in real time," I told him. "I have my best friend downstairs, a man who accepted me with said best friend... I have an amazing boyfriend who I've been mentally dating for years up until this year," I explained. Sam started to laugh at my last statement. "I'm going to be just fine here, Sammy."
"Good. Because now that we don't have an apocalypse on our backs, we can have a much calmer lifestyle."
"And we're still going with our promise?" I asked.
Sam nodded, "Hunting the least amount as we can. Saving the world little by little."
My cheeks started to ache from how much I smiled. "I love you, you know that?"
Sam smiled and leaned down to connect his lips with mine. "I love you more."
THE END.
