AURORA ADJUSTED her backpack strap as she walked down the school courtyard to meet up with her brother to go home. A hand was placed on her shoulder and gently turned her around. A smile came to her face as she stood face to face with Haley. "Hey, hales," she greeted before pressing a soft kiss against her lips.
Haley slowly pulled away from the kiss and frowned, "we need to talk, Rora."
Aurora's eyebrows furrowed, "what's going on?"
"The other night when we were at the B&B, you fell asleep on the couch, and I went to find you, but instead I found Pacey sat on the armchair watching you sleep, and all I could think about was Mrs. Ryan when she told us that you really love someone if you could sit there by the fire and watch them sleep," she informed and scoffed out a laugh, "and I know I may be reading into that, but it's so obvious that he's in love with you, and- and I can tell you still have some sort of feelings for him."
Aurora frowned as she looked at the Monroe girl. "What?" she asked with a soft tone. "No, that's crazy. I- I like you, Hales," she stated. "I want to be with you."
Haley shook her head with a sad smile, "it's okay, Aurora," she stated. "It was easy to tell you two never fell out of love, and I put myself in that situation, because I really liked you, I was kind of hoping this day would never come, but" she paused, "but I don't want to be the person who prevents you from being with someone you truly love. I just want to see you happy, even if it's not with me. You'll always hold a place in my heart, no matter what, but I think we should breakup."
Aurora shook her head with teary eyes, "Hales," her voice trailed off sadly. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have put you in this position, and I really did like you, it's just, my feelings for Pacey never really left, but I thought our relationship would change that, I- I guess not, I'm so sorry, I'm such a shitty girlfriend."
Haley shook her head, "no, stop, you don't have anything to be sorry for, okay? You can't control who you love, and I don't want to stop you from finding that love," she informed. "I'll be fine. I mean, yeah, it's going to hurt, but" she shrugged, "but what can you do, am I right?"
"What's going to happen to us?" Aurora asked. "I don't want to lose you, Hales. I need you, okay? You bring me comfort and around you I feel safe. I don't want to be the reason we never talk again."
"You're not going to lose me that easily," Haley smiled at her. "I'm still going to be here for you, okay? No matter what, and we'll be friends again, maybe even best friends, I don't know," she shrugged. "But right now, I think it's best we spend some time apart. You need to talk to Pacey, and I don't think I can be around to see you two as a couple yet, and I- I need to move on, and I think that's better for me to do alone."
"Obviously I'm not going to drop everyone," Haley spoke up. "I mean, they're my friends too, but I just don't think it's a good idea for us to hang out right now," she continued. "But you won't lose me. I'll always be here for you, and whenever I've moved on, we'll be friends again, okay?" Aurora couldn't respond, instead she just sadly nodded, trying to hold back the tears that wanted to fall. "Goodbye Aurora."
"Goodbye, Haley."
Aurora watched as the blonde turned around and began to walk away. A small sob left her lips as she turned around and continued to walk to the car. Lucas noticed the tears that filled her eyes as she climbed into the car.
Lucas got inside the car and shut the door, "hey, Rora, what's going on? What happened?" he asked.
Aurora shook her head as she stared straight -through the windshield. Her arms were crossed over her chest after she seat belted, and she tried her best to prevent any more sobs from escaping her mouth. "Just drive, please, Luke."
