PEETA'S POV-
Effie continues walking down the stairs. Walking towards us.
"That wasn't a paparazzi. That was one of Coin's men. They blame Katniss for her death, since she killed her..." Effie says
"For good reason" I interrupt her.
"Yes.. for good reason, but killed her nonetheless. I don't know what they were planning on doing, but I assume it's something to do with payback." Effie continues.
Katniss looks at me worried.
"I don't think we have anything to worry about. When I confronted them they seemed genuinely scared." I explain.
"We can't take any chances, especially since we have Rye with us." Katniss says
"I agree, but we can't go back to the airport. I don't want to be outside with Rye in the open. I don't know if a Train will be safe. There's nothing we can do." I say, defeatedly.
"Of course there is. I can have a guard team around you 24/7." Effie explains.
Katniss looks at me, considering it.
I nod my head.
"That would be great Effie. Thank you" Katniss replies, warmly.
"Of course" Effie replies
She hands me Rye and walks off into the kitchen.
I stare at rye, worried for his safety.
"Maybe it was a mistake to come here" I say softly
"Maybe doing an interview is going to put Rye in more danger" I continue
Katniss doesn't say anything. She just sits down and stares ahead. But I know she agrees with me.
"Maybe we shouldn't bring Rye with us to the interview" I suggest
Katniss looks at me, "yeah, I agree."
I hold her hand. She gives me a kiss on the cheek, and I give her one.
"Okay, I got a team of guards, funded by the capitol. President Paylor heard what happened. She sends her condolences about the situation, and says to let her know if you need anything." Effie says
"Thank you Effie." Katniss says
"The interview is in a few hours, so we should head to the studio so they can prepare you." Effie says
"Okay, but we need to go to President Paylor's mansion first" I say.
Effie looks confused, but agrees.
There's a knock on the door, it's the team of guards.
*At President Paylor's Mansion*
Katniss POV-
I'm holding Rye in my arms as we walk into president Paylor's mansion.
"Katniss, Peeta, welcome! Who's this little guy?" president Paylor greets us.
"President Paylor. Meet Rye Mellark, our son." Peeta replies, warmly
"Oh he is just precious!" President Paylor replies
"We have a favor to ask." Peeta says, seriously.
"Of course"
"We were wondering if someone here could watch Rye while we do the interview. We were gonna do the interview with Rye but recent circumstances made us realize that may not be safe. We don't know who to trust to watch Rye. I know you're busy being the president, but this would be a huge godsend." Peeta explains, quickly.
"Of course. I'll watch him." President Paylor replies
"Thank you so much! We owe you big time!" I say, relieved.
"This is just a small thanks for freeing our country from Snow, and Coin!" President Paylor chuckles as I hand her Rye.
I give her his diaper bag, with a change of clothes, diapers, wipes, and formula in it.
Peeta and I quickly leave, needing to be at the studio as soon as possible.
"Where's Rye?" Effie asks, as we get into the car.
"President Paylor is watching him." Peeta replies.
"The president of Panem, is watching your child?" Effie asks, incredulously.
Peeta and I shrug.
The car heads to the studio, and peeta and I are ushered to different rooms to get ready. After an hour of hair and makeup, Peeta and I are finally reunited
