Katniss's POV-
Peeta and I walk into my house. It feels so empty without my mother or Prim here. I guess Peeta and I will have to make it our own.
I walk into the living room, crushed by memories of my mother and Prim. My heart aches, but I know Peeta and I will make a life of our own here. I go upstairs into my room and dust off everything. I unpack my things and get settled in.
Peeta makes us dinner, lamb stew, my favorite. Peeta keeps telling me how it'll get better, and everything will be okay. I try my best to believe him.
When it's time for bed, I go out right away, but am awakened by a nightmare. I wake up screaming and sweating. Peeta is there to comfort me. I was breathing heavily, trying to catch my breath. Peeta says to me, "Shh. It's just a nightmare. You're ok. You're in your bed at your house in District 12 in Victor's Village. You fought in a war and won. Everything is peaceful. You're ok." I feel a sort of relief at these words. I wonder how he formed it into those words. But it's not surprising, Peeta, the boy with the bread and a way with words.
The next morning...
Katniss POV-
I wake up to the smell of pancakes. I love Peeta's pancakes. I hurry and run downstairs. I see Peeta in the kitchen cooking.
"Morning, beautiful," he says with a smile. I have no choice but to smile back at his kind words.
I sit down and stare at the sight of his delicious pancakes. After I'm done eating breakfast, I go upstairs and take a shower. Peeta walks in and joins me.
"What are you doing?" I ask with a grin.
He smiles. "Just having a shower with my beautiful girlfriend."
I could get lost in those crystal blue eyes and that gorgeous smile.
We take a shower, taking turns washing each other. After the shower, we watch movies. Until a mandatory viewing comes on the screen. It's Caesar Flickerman.
