Chapter Eleven- Hospital

PEETA'S POV
"You can do it katniss. I believe in you" I encourage her. We are at the hospital. Katniss is giving birth. I can't believe our baby is almost here.
"A few more pushes katniss!" The doctor says.

*Flash back- 4 months ago*
Katniss POV
Peeta and I are at the doctors for a checkup. I'm 5 months along. My belly feels huge. I definitely look huge. Peeta couldn't be more excited for these babies. I'm starting to get really excited too. I've come around to the idea of having 2 kids, I've accepted it. But now I'm starting to get excited. Maybe Peeta is rubbing off on me.
The doctor calls my name. We are finding out the genders today.
"Are we excited to find out the gender?" The doctor asks.
"Yes, definitely." I say. Peeta gives me a smile.
The doctor puts the gel on my belly and moves the wand around.
"Okay, baby A is right there.... And it's a boy!" She exclaims. Peeta smiles the biggest smile I have ever seen.
"Now let's look at baby B" she says.
"Baby b is right..." her sentence stops and her face turns serious.
She puts the wand down and says "I'll be right back."
Peeta squeezes my hand reassuringly. "What's happening" I start to panic.
"I'm sure it's fine." Peeta says.
"You don't know that Peeta." I tell him
I start to breathe heavily, and I start to feel sweat on my face.
"Hey, hey, hey." Peeta says soothingly
"You stressing out isn't going to help either of our babies" He says
I take a few deep breaths and start to calm down. Peeta is right.
We wait for a few minutes before another doctor comes in.
"Hello, I'm just here to check on your babies" he says.
"I thought that was what the other doctor was doing." I say.
"That was a nurse. It's her first day without supervision. She came and got me just to double check something." He states.
"Double check what??" Peeta asks, impatient.
"I don't want to worry you." The doctor says
"You telling us you don't want to worry us isn't helping! Now, we saved this country from dictatorship and gave the people the freedom they deserve. The damn least you could do is tell us what the hell is happening!" Peeta shouts.
I sit there stunned. I haven't seen Peeta like this in a long time.
The doctor must be just as shocked as I am but he eventually gives in and says solemnly, "the nurse couldn't find a heartbeat for baby B."
My face drops. And I start to breathe heavily again.
Peeta is doing the same thing but is trying to hide it. He squeezes my hand, this time looking for comfort. I squeeze his hand.
The doctor puts more gel on my belly and moves the wand around. He searches and searches the screen. After about 10 minutes of searching he finally says, "I can't find a heartbeat... I'm sorry."
I start to sob immediately. Peeta pulls me in for a hug. I can tell he is silently sobbing but is trying to be strong for me.
"I'll give you two some space." The doctor says as he stands up to leave.
"I can't believe this." I say. Sobbing harder.
"I know, I know." He says.
We stay like that for a few minutes before I get up and grab my stuff. Peeta and I head back to district 12.
When we get home I go straight to our bed and lay down. And I stay that way for awhile.

*Flash forward - now*
PEETA'S POV
Katniss screams as she pushes. I soon hear the cries of our baby. "Congratulations! You have a baby boy" the doctor says.
I look over and see our precious baby boy. I get a little sad remembering how it was supposed to be 2 babies. I try not to let my sadness show but I guess katniss can tell, she squeezes my hand. The nurse takes him away to clean him up. After a few minutes she returns and hands Katniss our baby.
"He's so precious" she says, in awe.
"I can't believe he's here." I say.
"What should we name him?" I ask.
"Mmmm... I don't know. Maybe Ryan?" She says
"Mm, Ryan doesn't look like it suits him" I say
Katniss laughs, "oh yeah? What does then?"
I'm silent for a few moments before I whisper a name in her ear.
Katniss gasps and says, "that's perfect."
I pull away and smile at her. We both turn to look at our baby. I didn't think I could love someone like I love him. I love Katniss with everything in me, but that's a different kind of love. I would do anything for Katniss. And I would do anything for our son.
I love him with my whole being and soul.

KATNISS POV-
As Peeta and I are staring at our son, we hear a knock on the door. "Come in" peeta yells
The door opens and Haymitch walks through.
"Heyy you two!" He slurs
I roll my eyes, "Haymitch, are you drunk?"
"Maybe a little." He says
"I don't want you by our baby while you're drunk." Peeta says.
Haymitch looks at him like he's crazy.
"But that kid is like my grandkid!" Haymitch protests
"You can see him when you're sober." I say.
Haymitch mumbles something under his breath as he walks out of the room.
"Wow." Peeta says
"Yeah." I chuckle
"I wonder where Effie is." I ask.
"Yeah, I thought they lived together. You would think she'd be here." Peeta says
The nurse comes in to take our baby for tests.
When he is out of the room I ask peeta, "so... how are we gonna deal with the paparazzi?"
"I got us a private car to take us back to district 12." Peeta says as he leans down to kiss my forehead.
"I wish our other baby was here." I say sadly
Peeta holds my hand, "me too."
"So, while we are alone, I have a question for you."
Peeta says.
"What is it?"

PEETA'S POV-
She has a confused look on her face. Here goes nothing.
I pull out a ring and get down on one knee.
Katniss gasps. "Peeta.."
"Katniss Everdeen, my love, my soul, my girl on fire. I have loved you since the first moment I saw you. You're the girl of my dreams. I feel complete with you. As messed up as this is, in a way I'm glad I got chosen in the games, as it gave me a reason to talk to you. I'm glad we were Allies. Im glad we saved this country together. Im glad we have a kid together. My life is complete with you. I love you with everything in me. I love our son. I love our life. I can't live without you. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"
There's a few minutes of silence. The longer she doesn't answer, the more nervous I get.
Eventually she lets out a soft laugh and says, "yes. A thousand times yes!"
I smile so big it hurts. I get up and put the ring on her finger. I kiss her deeply and passionately.
"I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together."
I say
"I can't wait either." She responds.
Soon the nurse walks into the room with our son. She hands our son to Katniss
"Hey.. mommy and daddy are getting married!" I say excitedly.

A/N: I know I know, I skipped over the pregnancy, but I just didn't know what to write. I always see that the girl is born first in everlark fan fictions, so I decided to switch it up. Which is correct as in the movies/books the girl is older, but I wanted to switch it up. I was gonna do twins. One girl one boy. But I just decided to do one instead. Again, sorry for skipping over most of the pregnancy. I know you don't really show at 5 months, it's usually 6-7 months when you have a huge belly, but I'm gonna leave it in there anyways. The baby's name is revealed in the next chapter.

A/N #2: If you're re-reading this, you may notice some differences. I did fix some sentences, and added some words/sentences. I saw some incorrect grammar so I wanted to fix it. I also saw some inconsistencies, and I wanted to fix that. Just an FYI.  I did add a sentence or two to my first A/N. Just incase you notice that it's different.
