Chapter fifteen- Stalker?

2 days later...
KATNISS'S POV-
Rye is playing in his playpen when Peeta walks in and sits down next to me on the couch.
"Hey" he says, as he kisses my cheek
"Hey" I respond, clicking through the channels on the tv.
"What are you watching?" He asks
"I don't know, there's nothing good to watch" I reply
"Effie called again" he says
I stop and look at him. "What did you talk about?" I ask
"She wanted an answer about the interview." He answered.
"What did you tell her?" I ask
"I said I didn't have an answer for her at the moment." He replies.
"But we need to give a answer soon. you haven't said yes, is that a no then? I can't put this off forever." Peeta says, a little annoyed
"It's an I don't know!" I reply
"Okay okay" he says
I go back to watching tv. I watch a documentary about the games.
The documentary is interrupted by breaking news.
Cesar flickerman appears on the screen.
"Attention Panem. I am live from the Capitol. We have breaking news. As you all know, the hunger games simulation was delayed. I have come to announce that the hunger games simulation will happen in 2 weeks! I want to remind you all, that if you are 'killed' in the games, you will not be killed in real life. All the kids will return home safely. Everything will be the same as the actual games, minus the actual deaths. We will have more information for you later in tonight's viewing."
He disappears from the screen and the documentary continues playing.
"Wow." Peeta says
I can't speak. I feel anxious. I go to pick up Rye and hold him protectively against me. I sit down and continue watching the documentary with Rye laying on me.

*Hours later*
KATNISS POV-
After Peeta and I put Rye to bed, we go downstairs to watch the news.
"I'm surprised they didn't tell us that they were going to announce the games" Peeta says
"Yeah, it's crazy" I say softly
I listen carefully as they announce the details of the games.
Reaping: 5 days from now.
Preparing: 7 days from now
Tryouts: 9 days from now
Dinner: 11 days from now
Games: 14 days from now

I turn the tv off and turn to Peeta. He looks at me with concern. I guess he can see the fear in my eyes.

PEETA'S POV-
She faces me, fear in her eyes. I take her hands, "Katniss, it will be okay. No one is going to actually die. This is all a simulation" I reassure her.
"I know, it's just I can't help but have flashbacks" she says.
I caress her cheek, "it'll be okay. Let's just take it one day at a time." I assure her
She smiles and hugs me, laying on my chest.
"Peeta?" She says softly
"Yeah?" I reply
"I want to do the interview." She says.
I'm about to reply when she says, "tomorrow"
I sit up, causing her to stop hugging me.
"How will we manage that? Taking the train, we won't get there until the day after tomorrow. None of the trains run this late" I say.
"So? Let's fly. Early tomorrow morning." She proposes.
"Seriously?" I ask, surprised
"We have the money" she shrugs
"You should call Effie" she continues
"This late?" I ask.
"You're right. We should wait till we get to the airport." She replies
"Tomorrow morning?" I ask
"Tomorrow morning" she replies.
"I'll go book the tickets" she gets up and grabs her phone and walks out of the room.
I go upstairs to go to bed. Deciding to call effie tomorrow morning.

*EARLY THE NEXT MORNING*
KATNISS POV-
I just about finish packing our bags. We're only staying one night. We will fly back tomorrow evening. Peeta is on the phone with Effie. I'm guessing she is yelling at him about the short notice,
"It was a last minute decision" he says.
"I know I know, we didn't come to a decision until late last night!" He continues
After a few minutes, which I assume is Effie going on and on about the things she will now have to do given the short notice. Peeta eventually gets fed up and says,
"Today is the only day we are willing to do the interview. Take it or leave it."
I raise my eyebrows at him, he shrugs in return.
That must have done the trick because Effie quickly says her goodbyes and hangs up.
"Well, I guess we have a plane to catch!" He says.
He goes to pick up Rye from his crib. Rye awakens from his sleep, crying.
"I'm gonna go put this in the car, meet you out there." I say.
"Okay. I'm gonna change him." He replies.
"Sounds good. I'll start the car." I say.
