*20 years later* *Peeta's POV*
We are helping Willow pack her things for college.
"Do you need this?" Katniss asks her.
"No, mom," Willow says, annoyed.
"Hey, I never went to college, I don't know what you need."
"How about I just finish packing then? And you guys can put the boxes into the car and drive me to the airport?" Willow suggests.
"Sure, honey. Whatever you need." I say
She finishes packing her things, and we put her things into the SUV.
She sits in the back as we drive towards the airport.
I can tell Katniss is trying not to cry. "It will be okay," I whisper to her. She nods her head.
We get to the airport, and Willow grabs her things.
"Well, I guess this is goodbye," she says
"Goodbye for now," Katniss corrects, and starts sobbing.
"Oh, Mom. It will be okay. I will be a short flight away. You can come visit all the time."
Willow hugs us and kisses our cheeks.
"Bye, mom and dad. For now," Willow smiles and starts walking away. I pull Katniss into a hug as she sobs more.
"On the bright side, at least we have a house there. We can stay there at minimal cost!" I say.
Katniss looks up and kisses me.
We watch our baby girl walk into the airport, starting a new, adventurous life.
As for Rye, he is 21 now. He has a girlfriend and is planning on proposing soon. We couldn't be prouder of him. Willow was unsure what she wanted to do with her life at first, but eventually settled on college and then traveling.
Katniss and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary soon. We got married a few months after she gave birth to Willow.
Johanna got married about a year after us. She and Alder have a daughter who will be graduating from high school next year.
We have a few houses in different districts. And we travel a lot. Katniss and I are still living in District 12, as she never wanted to move. We settled on having vacation homes to spend the summers and school breaks in.
Effie lives in the Capitol and Haymitch is still leaving in Victors Village in district 12. Him and Effie hangout occasionally but I guess whatever happened between them is irreconcilable.
President Paylor retired, and her son took over Panem. Of course, there was some worry, but he showed us he had no malicious intent for this country. He's a good president.
I have opened up bakeries throughout Panem. My bakery took off shortly after it opened, and over the years, I've gotten offers to open more bakeries in other Districts. It was expensive at first as they took longer to take off in other Districts, but eventually they started raking in revenue. And that's how Katniss and I were able to afford all the vacation homes.
Turns out overseeing 12 bakeries is a lot of work. But all worth it in the end. Seeing Rye and Willow come to the bakery after school, and growing up spending their time in the bakery and helping make pastries, was worth it.
When he turned 18, Rye decided to join the military. We were nervous at first. But eventually accepted the idea. We still worry like crazy, but Rye seems to be thriving.
They did catch who shot Katniss. No more attacks happened after that. Turns out it wasn't one of Coin's men, and there was no vendetta; the guy just started those rumors. The guy was Gale Hawthorne. I guess he went into a psychotic break and went crazy. He got therapy, and Katniss forgave him eventually, as he wasn't in his right mind. He's doing okay now, has a son. Who our daughter is dating. Oliver. We disapproved at first, given what Gale has done. But our daughter said she would not stop dating him. We told her we would try to get over it and learn to accept it, but it wasn't going to happen overnight, and he was not allowed in our house, but she could still see him. She was okay with that.
After a lot of therapy and working through our ptsd and our problems with Gale, we were able to meet Oliver for the first time 5 years ago, on our terms. We discovered that he is a good guy who really cares for our daughter.
Gale apologized for what he did and said he truly wasn't in his right mind. He showed us documentation to back up his claims. It was true. We told him we forgave him, but we would never be friends. We would be civil, but nothing more. We also explained this to Willow and Oliver, who understood.
Katniss and I are doing great. We've been through thick and thin, and I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else but her.
THE END.
A/N: I literally have no more ideas. So this is the epilogue. I will be doing one shots of these events though, so if you want, look forward to those. I'm marking this as completed. I know in the one-shots you will know how everything is going to end up but this epilogue isn't that detailed. so I'll be doing one shots of Katniss and Peeta's wedding. Willow's birth. Rye's first birthday. Rye and Willow's childhood memories (first day of school, their time at school, their time at home, their time together, their bond, things like that). And I hope that will compensate for this abrupt ending, but I could not drag this on any longer as I have NO IDEAS to keep this book truly going. So I'll be replacing them with one shots instead. I won't have much time to do a book anyway since school starts next week and I have a busy schedule. So one-shots work better for me anyways. Hope you understand.
