Kingston's pov:
The only reason I didn't tell River her father is headed to Russia is because Russia is a dangerous place, especially with Briggs' family running most of the fucking country.
She'd insist on going and it's far too dangerous, even for her.
Although I didn't care for her, if she got hurt because of me, I would be targeted by the Lincoln family and my body would be found in a body bag a few days later.
My plan was to head to Russia, get Rivers father back and come back to Chicago. Simple.
River doesn't need to come with me, I'd already taken her three hours away from home for nothing.
River had been attacking me and cursing at me for the past five minutes, trying to get a reaction out of me, as that's what she wanted.
This time, I didn't fight back. I didn't want to.
She was right to be angry with me in this situation, she was so close to getting her father back, just for him to be heading to another country, by the hands of my fucking father.
I'm going to get her father back. I have to. Or River is going to kill me, if she doesn't right now.
I'm honestly surprised she didn't put a bullet through my skull earlier, when she had the chance.
She continued to take her anger out on me and for once in my life, I let her.
I never let anyone touch or disrespect me, especially her, but I made an exception, this time round.
"I'm not going to retaliate, River. So you may aswell just give up now." I advised but of course, she didn't listen.
Am I surprised? No.
She continued to swear, hit and fight and I continued to let her.
"Calm down and maybe I can help you." I told her in hopes that it would calm her down just a little bit but it didn't.
"How the fuck are you going to help me?" She asked through gritted teeth, still beating the fuck out of my chest.
I'm sure that's going to leave a bruise.
I'm not telling her what I'm planning to do or where her father is but I'll try to distract her for a little while.
"I don't know yet, but you acting like this isn't going to help anything, is it?" I tried to calm her down, yet again and this time, to my surprise, it worked.
Thank god.
Slowly, she took a few steps back, a mix of anger, hurt and annoyance were visible in her beautiful, hazel-coloured eyes.
"So, you tell me, what should I do then? How should I react?" She questioned, clearly angry.
Taking a cigar from my trouser pocket, I lit it and placed it between my lips as I took a long drag, trying to think of what the fuck to say now.
"Just breathe for a minute. Then I'll figure something out." I told her as I took another drag from the cigar and then decided to offer River some.
