Kingston's pov:

As I walked into the abandoned building alone, leaving River by herself in my car, I noticed something wasn't right.

The first thing that gave it away was that it was too silent for my liking and that there was nobody around.

I gave clear and simple orders to my men that they must stay in place. They must watch over the place, make sure no one gets in who's not recognised and make sure nobody leaves the building.

I placed my men in different areas around the building, keeping check of everything.

One of my men that I had stood at the entrance, was not standing there anymore. He'd gone. Without my permission.

That was the first sign.

The second sign was the horrifying stench coming from inside the building.

I understand the building is old, burnt out and abandoned but I had been here less that 24 hours ago, and it did not smell like this.

The smell of damp and rain also surrounded the building but it always had. There's a different smell. A smell that is strong, horrifying and could possibly suffocate someone.

What I'm not coming to understand is, why, all of a sudden, my men have just disappeared off the property and why the horrid smell of dead bodies is filling up the place.

I gave clear instructions to all of my men, if something happens, they inform me right away.

So what the fuck happened here while I was gone then?

I'd placed a total of twenty of my men in and around this building, yet not one of them is here. They've all gone.

The most important thing is, when I left this place, Rivers father was here. Placed in one of these rooms, with a few of my men. Now, not a single person is here.

As I made my way to the room where Rivers father was placed, the walls were coated with dark red blood. The smell was mainly coming from this room.

For fucks sake.

I told each and every one of my men to not lay a hand on Rivers father, no matter how far he pushes their buttons. I have no proof of anything here right now but I did make the consequences very fucking clear if they decided to disobey me.

Wanting to find out more of what happened in this very room, I searched all of the surrounding rooms, hoping for a clue.

I need to get to the bottom of this before River finds out what's going on. She would quite literally kill me if she found out her father isn't actually here after all.

Clenching my jaw, I stood in silence as I began to make out a shuffling noise coming from the room beside me.

Walking warily towards it, I opened the door to see one of my men covered in blood on the floor as he was wrapped in ropes that tied his body together.

Poor bastard.

Rolling my eyes, wondering how the fuck he got in that position, I walked over to him.
