"What sort of fucking trade are you talking about?" I raised my voice slightly, looking between Briggs and my father.
"You hand the girl over to me so I can take good care of her and in return, I give you weapons, protection, and money." Briggs spoke confidently, laying his offer out on the table.
Looking between my father and Briggs, I could tell my father has been wanting this for ages, just by the smug look on his face.
They both shared a look as they smirked.
"I've already got enough money, protection and weapons. Thank you." Was my simpe answer and their heads suddenly snapped towards me.
"Excuse me?" Briggs looked shocked with my answer, almost like he was expecting me to just take his offer.
"He's only joking, of course. He would love to take the offer." My father fake laughed as he shot a few glares at me.
"I said I'm fine. I'm already stocked. I don't need anything from you." I repeated my answer as they didn't seem to understand the first time.
"But-" Briggs began to speak but I interrupted him, "I said I'm fine. You are not getting the girl. Now, if there's nothing else, you can get the fuck out of my house."
"Son, what is the matter with you? The girl means nothing to you. She's an enemy. You will be doing yourself a favour by taking the offer." My father was now speaking through gritted teeth.
"I'm not changing my mind." I spoke loudly but calmly as they both looked at me, disbelief filling their eyes.
"And why's that?" It was now Briggs' turn to ask the questions, I see.
"Because, even though I despise her, I'm not handing her over to a man like you." I glared at him as he scrunched his eyebrows together.
"A man like me? And what is that supposed to mean, young man?" Briggs was getting frustrated with me as he knew exactly what I was talking about.
He stepped towards me as I answered his question, "Briggs, I don't want to have to remind you about what you did to all those women.." I spoke as he raised his eyebrows in confusion.
"..when you trafficked them.. raped them.. beat them.. traumatised them.. and then killed them." I finally revealed and everyone around the room suddenly stopped their conversations to listen to what I had just said.
Briggs looked at me, no reaction on his face as he knew I wasn't lying, whilst my fathers face was going red with anger.
"How dare you! How dare you speak to a guest like that! You should be very ashamed Kingston!" My father yelled, pacing towards me.
Is he forgetting that this is my house and that I can get rid of him whenever I feel necessary?
"Watch who you're speaking to father. Don't forget that you're just as much of a guest than he is." Once I said that, my father looked at me with wide eyes.
"You have no respect for anyone but yourself, huh?" My father replied.
"Well, that is how you raised me."
I lost respect for my father the day he beat my mother black and blue and made all six of his young kids stand there and watch as she screamed out in pain.
As Briggs and my father had nothing else to say, we stood there for a silent second, I nodded and walked to the front door as they followed slowly behind me.
I opened the door, turned to face the pair of them and said, "my final answer is no. You're not getting the girl. Now, if there's nothing else, you can both get the fuck out of my house." I looked straight into the eyes of my father as he just scoffed.
