Kingston's pov:

"What's up with you? Why are you acting weird?" Braxton questioned as he stood tall and confident beside me.

"Shut the fuck up and go entertain yourself."

I need to pull myself together and I need to do it now.

I'm letting that moment affect me way too much for my liking.

Something just took over my body when I was in that room with her. It made me want to mark her as mine. It made me want to protect her, even though she doesn't need protecting. It made me want to devour her and give her something never to forget.

She's taking over my mind, my body and my soul and I don't like it. Not one fucking bit.

I'm beginning to care about her and that's dangerous. I'm intrigued and it makes me want to learn more about her past.

"We've got a slight problem." Atlas came from behind me and whispered in my ear, pulling me away from my thoughts.

For fucks sake. Of course we do. Can we not just have one peaceful night? Is that really too much to ask for?

"What is it?" I asked, aware of my surroundings.

"The Russians and Briggs got word about this gathering and they're already on there way here." He informed me and it was honestly no surprise.

There's over 100 guests here right now so there was always the definite chance on the Russians finding out.

Now we just have to deal with them and we need to do it quickly.

"Let everyone know. I'll tell Peter. Tell them to be ready and prepared."

"What about River, boss?" He questioned and I gritted my teeth.

Everywhere I go, her name is mentioned and it's fucking ridiculous.

"What about her, Atlas?" The frustration and anger clear in my tone.

"Well I just thought, you know, with the way she's been acting recently, that she might-" before he could finish his sentence, I interrupted him.

"She's fine, Atlas. There's nothing to worry about." I informed him, letting him know I'm dealing with her.

He gave me a small nod before going to find the rest of the team that are scattered around the mansion.

My job right now is to let Peter know about this information as this is his house, his gathering and his family are also here and they could be put in danger.

Then I need to tell River and I'm hoping to fuck that she doesn't shoot me dead on the spot.

I'll start with the easiest option. Peter.

Searching around the crowded mansion, there was no sign of him until I spotted him exchanging words with one of our many guests.

He noticed me from a distance and immediately dismissed his guest. He could sense that something wasn't right by my facial expressions.
