River's pov:
I always said to myself that I would never let a man's words belittle me, destroy me, break me, but his? His has absolutely broke me.
How Briggs knows all of that, I don't know, but he really just did use it to his advantage.
Before I could even respond to the damaging words, Briggs was thrown straight into the wall and then appeared Kingston.
The second I saw him, I blew out a sigh of relief I didn't even know I was holding in. He's here. As dumb as it may seem, I do feel safe around him.
I don't know why or how that happened but everytime I see his handsome face, weight feels like it's being lifted off my chest.
Bringing me back to reality, all I could do was stand there whilst Kingston threw Briggs all over the place like a dog, despite Briggs being nearly twice his age and twice his size, in weight.
Even though I wanted to get my own hands dirty with Briggs, he made every single inch of me feel weak. Mentally and physically.
I was forced to just stand there and watch on as tears brimmed my eyes. For fucks sake.
Sasha came and stood by my side but I didn't bother looking her way as I couldn't take my eyes off the piece of shit that was being tossed around infront of me.
A single tear fell from my eye as I wiped it away rapidly. I'm sure Remington caught a glimpse of it though as when my eyes moved to his, his stare was already on me. A look of sympathy taking over his expression.
He shouldn't feel bad for me. I don't want him to. I don't want anyone to feel bad for me and I certainly don't need anyone to feel bad for me.
I can do this by myself, just like I have been doing since I was 17 years old.
Ripping my eyes away from his, my gaze landed back on Briggs and Kingston as Kingston kept throwing continuous punches to Briggs' face.
His face was painted with blood whilst Kingston's hands repeatedly assaulted Briggs' face, despite his knuckles already being covered in blood.
Briggs eventually stopped fighting and his body became limp as Kingston could not stop throwing punches.
He was so lost in his own anger that he didn't realise that Briggs was out cold.
Remington stepped forward in an attempt to pull Kingston away from Briggs but it wasn't working. Kingston wasn't letting up.
A loud gunshot rang throughout the room, the noise instantly making my ears ring as I already had a headache.
Seconds after the gunshot, thick smoke appeared in every area of the large room as the strong smell had me coughing repeatedly.
I could hear more chatter in the distance and it was coming from the corridor outside the room.
There's more. And right now, they've got the upper hand. Bastards.
Sasha stayed beside me so I knew she was safe.
The smoke became too much that I was unable to see through the thick clouds of smoke. It just kept coming.
